During a recent visit to Austin, we discovered a few competing cavern/cave attractions. We opted for Longhorn because it is a State Park, less expensive then the other one near Austin, and didn't look as commercialized. The geologic formations are unique and beautiful, and the cavern itself has quite a history! Our guide was a retired geologist from the area and very folksy, so his tour was fun, informative, and delivered in a nice and relaxed manner. There is a lot of walking, some slippery areas, lots of steps, some short ceilings, some dark spots. Not recommended for those who can't walk on their own. We were really happy we visited Longhorn Cavern. We also recommend the burger at the restaurant in the visitor center. Yum yum!
