These caverns have been open since the 1930's, they were a project of the CCC, there are several beautiful stonework structures built by them. The CCC were the ones who cleared the mud and debris from the cave. There are a considerable number of stairs to climb, and there is no wheelchair access. The walk is a long one, if you have difficulty with stairs and walking a considerable distance, this might be a challenge. The main interest in my opinion is the history here, and a few bats. I've seen larger caves, and more beautiful, that's why I rated this 4 stars instead of 5. The drive into the park is lovely, with lots of hills and wildflowers. the tour guide was very enthusiastic. These caverns are for sure worth your time if you are in the area.
