“Agreed, worst ever!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2008

Management was very rude. There was cleaning equipment all over the pool area (including chlorine). They ran out of towels. Find another place to stay!

After reading online reviews, I was skeptical about this property. It was by far the closest to the location I needed, so I went with it. The check-in process was quick and painless. The desk clerk was helpful and gave good information.

The lobby was bright and clean, but the temperature was a little warm and sticky. To be fair, a major Texas storm had come through hours before and knocked out power to the entire city for several hours. No doubt the air conditioners and/or dehumidifiers were working hard to catch up.

The elevator to the third floor (where our room was located) was a bit small and wouldn't have accommodated more than three people with suitcases. Since there were two of us, it was fine for our needs.

The room was quite clean, and everything in it looked brand new. The carpet was spotless and didn't show any wear at all. The bed and bath linens were fresh and clean, and there was plenty of room. It was a very comfortable room.

The breakfast provided was average. We passed on the round, flat "eggs," but enjoyed cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit, pastries, coffee, milk and juice. It was enough to get our day started well, but not a big buffet like other chains provide.

My only suggestion would be to request a room on the back side of the building because the hotel sits on the access road for I-35. We didn't hear regular traffic noise so much, but were awakened by emergency vehicle sirens several times. Of course with the continual raging storms we had, it is reasonable there would be accidents, etc. In better weather, we probably would not have noticed a thing.

As we have family in this area, we will probably need to stay in this hotel again, and we won't hesitate.

  • Liked — Cleanliness, proximity to event we attended
  • Disliked — Stuffy temperature in lobby and common areas (might have been due to storms in area)

I called early for a conference i was attending in austin. Called a bunch of properties before reserving. Got a nice rate with this one but I was little cautious because of the negative review on this site about this property.

Check in was quick, room was clean, breakfast was fresh, staff was friendly and courteous.

overall experience was great :) This is how motels should look like.

Tip if you stay at this place: Get a room facing the freeway, you can watch the sunrise unobstructed. Beautiful.

My boyfriend and I booked a room online for four nights at this hotel in January. Immediately after booking, we called the hotel to confirm that our booking had gone through and a woman assured us that it had.
2 months later, we arrive in Buda-- only to be told by "Mike" that the hotel was full and that there was no record of our reservation! He complained that the Best Western website had problems and that it was not his fault. Apparently, this wasn't the first time.
A friend had also booked a room for four nights in this hotel online, then called and added a fifth night. When she asked him to see if her reservations were correct, he told her he only had her room for two nights. She was upset, and Mike continued to be condescending and rude, until he did something behind his desk and told her that he had made a mistake- she had four nights.
We waited in the lobby for my boyfriend to call Best Western and get things straightened out (the hotel was supposed to compensate for the lost reservation by paying for one night at another hotel). Mike told us to get out because we were "stinking up the lobby," but we had nowhere to go! He also told my boyfriend, who practically grew up in a Best Western hotel, that he was "older and smarter" and that my boyfriend didn't know what he was talking about. Our party was made up mostly of 20somethings, and because of that he seemed to think he could be inconsiderate towards us. He was immature and blamed Best Western for everything, but Best Western doesn't answer his phone for him! We ended up staying in Cedar Park, 40 miles away- a huge inconvenience. Luckily, the staff there were wonderful.
My boyfriend's family has worked for Best Western for years, and my boyfriend was upset that this guy was allowed to represent their business in such a negative fashion. This inn may be cheap, but paying extra money for a different hotel will be well worth it.
