“Even better than expected!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

My wife and I visited Brenham during our 2013 Spring Break road trip and we were both in awe after seeing the building in person (the website pictures are accurate but it's even better in person). We tried to book a room that night but all of the rooms were rented. We would have even taken the highest priced room. We were both very disappointed to have missed out so we went ahead and booked a room for the following night (the Memphis room) and we were both afraid that we were getting our hopes up so high that we would be disappointed again when we finally "experienced" the hotel. Well, that didn't happen! This place is gorgeous inside and out! We will definitely be staying here again - we have plans now to make an annual trek to Brenham just to stay in this hotel. We're thinking of trying a different room each year. I just can't say enough of how beautiful the building and the rooms are! No complaints and I look forward to staying there again next year!

My daughter and I shared a beautiful two bedroom suite for two nights. The ambience of the old building is lovely: the original doors, wood floors and stained glass windows retain the feeling of the 19th century building. There are Victorian antiques aplenty but minus the doilies, giving the place a "not too fussy" past era appeal. We loved the opportunity to meet other guests on the second floor porch (rocking chairs), and in the upstairs "parlor", where we saw a group of ladies enjoying an evening card game. The library of books, games, DVDs and the Blue Bell ice cream in the fridge are nice extras. The location is ideal as a base for day trip explorations of the surrounding area. Round Top, Festival Hill and Winedale are all within a 30 minute drive. Brenham itself is a somewhat sleepy big/small town (the County Seat) with the requisite cute shops catering to tourists and antique hunters and a few nice restaurants. The only negative was the breakfast. We are late sleepers when we are on vacation so we missed the 7 to 9 am breakfast time, skidding in to the restaurant at 9:10. We were told that we were too late for breakfast or even coffee. The waiter responded to our moment of silent response by saying he possibly could brew another pot. We noted that he reappeared within two minutes with a full pot to refill other guests cups as he made his way to our table to provide us with some desperately needed caffeine. We paid for a so- so supermarket bagel and fruit. Maybe a breakfast buffet might work for us late sleeping city slickers?
In spite of the breakfast disappointment, we would recommend the Ant Street Inn as a lovely respite.

We stayed here on our first night in Texas as it was a handy one hour drive from Houston airport. We were late getting in & it was a Monday night but our hosts were ever so helpful finding us somewhere open to eat. We hurried off leaving our bags behind us & the surprise awaited us on our return. Our room was fab! Huge four poster bed & the biggest bath tub I ever had the pleasure to sit in! A very welcome retreat from our long flight from Ireland. Breakfast the next morning was lovely too. We were on a tight schedule to fit as much of Texas in as possible in 3 days so we didn't stay the following day but Brenham is a quaint little town & if you had the time I'd definitely recommend a leisurely stay & would defo recommend this fab guesthouse!

We have booked the Ant Street Inn twice a year for 5 years to host our ladies scrapbook retreat! We have such a high demand for our retreat, primarily because of the luxurious rooms and the atmosphere at the inn. Suzy and Keith work with us to make our events the best!

It is difficult to write this because I am selfish and want to keep Ant Street Inn, a secret. I have been coming to Ant Street Inn since the late 1990s, when my daughter was at Blinn. Ant Street Inn is one of the most unique hotels I have ever stayed at. Suzy & Keith make every stay, like we are family. Please stay away so I can have this wonderful hotel, all to myself.

We appreciate your bravery and sacrifice in sharing how you feel about Ant Street Inn! It makes us smile to hear you find us as charming now as you did in the 1990's when the Inn opened!

Brenham is an interesting town with lots to do in terms of history and shopping. The trip wouldn't be complete without a stay at the Ant Street Inn. It is a very unuaual layout for a bed and breakfast or an inn. It has a comomon sitting area the length of the upstairs hall which seperates all the rooms. There is peace and beauty and quiet. The anitques are hand picked and well maintained. The inn doesn't fall into the bed and breakfast trap of being way too cute. It is sophisticated yet has a warm feel to the furnishings. The new owners are wonderful to talk to and very eager to please.

Wow! Beautiful antiques + sophisticated ownership = a GREAT experience at the Ant Street Inn. So warm and welcoming. The kind of place that when you walk in the door your spirits lift. I was incredibly impressed that they actually had dark colored wash cloths in the bath room for makeup removal! It's those little touches that make this B&B so very special. And it is spotlessly clean in all the public areas as well as the guest areas. Don't miss a visit to the upstairs Veranda. Take your coffee or a glass of wine and enjoy the view from your rocking chair along with all that clean fresh air. And Suzi and Keith - the owners - are the nicest, most knowledgeable and accommodating hosts! No wonder it's sometimes hard to get a reservation. I'll be back again asap!

Room Tip: The two bedroom suite is an incredible value with lots of space including a full kitchen. It's...
