We were in town for a wedding, but it was also our 27th anniversary weekend so we wanted something other than a regular hotel. We certainly found it at Ant Street Inn. Suzy and Keith were awesome, as were their employees. After returning from the, reception we opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate our anniversary with some friends but we did not have the "proper" glasses. Suzy and Keith immediately brought us champagne glasses and shared their story of the Inn with us. The room was fantastic and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. We celebrated our 9th Anniversary at the Ant Street Inn. We live in the Austin area and had originally expected to stay close to home at a local B&B, but most of the local options were either booked or too impressed with their own ambience (translate that as too high-priced). We scanned the internet for other options and found the Ant Street- don't know what link we used... just dumb luck. The room was great- we stayed in the Charleston which had a good mix of old world charm and new amenities. Prior to checking in, we visited the Thyme Day Spa. We relaxed in the hotel room before going to dinner at the Longhorn Steak House (just down the street) as part of a mid-week package incentive. Even though the weather was cold and rainy- the Ant Street couldn't control everything- we were able to visit the many shops in Brenham and eat in a local sandwich/ice-cream shop. On balance, it was a great anniversary and less than 2-hours away from our home. We didn't start out the process thinking that we were going to go to Brenham and the Ant Street Inn, but we are glad that we did.....

Celebrated a one night getaway for our 50th wedding anniversary and this was second time to stay at Inn. We stayed in the Charlotte Room this time. Last time stayed in the New Orleans Room and hope to try another room next time. Love all the antiques and whimsy touches. Had a wonderful time, loved the proximity to the quaint shops and restaurants. Would recommend that you check the schedule for Unity Theatre before your visit as they have great performances and is within walking distance.....fun for an evening out. Recommend a dinner at Valare Italian Restaurant......great food, good service and nice atmosphere. The new owner of the Inn, Keith, was very hospitable and makes a great breakfast.

On a whim, we decided to get out of town and head to Brenham to check it out. We only wanted to spend one night, so we decided to splurge and stay in a B&B if there was one available without a reservation. It was about 8:00 when we arrived in town. We found the Ant Street Inn on our smartphone and decided to go inside to see if they had any rooms available. This place is right smack in the heart of town and all the goodies are within close walking distance. Luckliy, the owner was there and he had a room to offer us! We stayed in The Atlanta room. It was beautiful. These folks sure know how to treat a guest! Every comfort you could ask for was here. It was spacious, super clean, charming, comfortable and had all of the modern amenities. I am always critical of hotel rooms because there is always some common sense item that's missing or they nickle and dime you for basic comforts. Not this place. The bed was comfy with lots of great pillows. There was a desk, a sitting area with nice chairs, antique furniture and lovely decor. A nice closet with bath robes, luggage racks, ironing board and iron. There was a flat screen TV (with DVD) and free wi-fi.
The bathroom area had a sink and vanity (well-lighted) separate from the bath/shower and toilet (with a fan!). All of the fixtures worked very well. Now for the good stuff...There is a gorgeous common area (large hallway) with several seating areas (couches and chairs) for reading or hanging out and chatting. I saw 2 separate rooms with tables and chairs for gathering. One room was equipped with tons of games and puzzles to enjoy. They have an outside porch (veranda) that overlooks a great back yard area, complete with a gazebo (perfect for weddings). This is a perfect spot to sit and sip on coffee or wine and enjoy the fresh air. They provide an area that houses a single serving coffee maker, water cooler and a fridge. The owners provide water, coffee, tea, hot cocoa (etc) and the fridge is stocked with complimentary ice, soda and even Blue Bell Ice Cream. It was incredibly relaxing there. Before settling in for the night, we wandered out to grab a bite to eat and since it was late we just stopped into Yumm Eat. It was Yummy! Then we settled into our room and enjoyed some of the free refreshments while doing a puzzle. After a wonderful nights sleep, we got up, ready and headed downstairs for breakfast in the Brenham Grill (which is located right inside of the Inn. Of coarse, a wonderful breakfast was provided by our host. After we checked out the owner said we were welcome to stay and hang out in the common areas to relax if we wanted to. We did for a bit and then left and wandered all around town, popping in and out of their wonderful shops. I recommend that you splurge and stay at the Ant Street Inn whole-heartedly. You won't regret this wonderful experience. As others have mentioned, you don't even have to leave the Inn to have a great time.
