“Cool little place with good food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

Great little fly in spot at the airport, obviously. 50's styling. Food all looked good. Burger and fries were really good. Read a few previous reviews and thought they were a little nit picky. The food and service were both 4 out of 5. Kid's would like this place pretty well as you can see all the airplances.

“Another Great Meal at the Southern Flyer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2011

If you want to travel back in time where the girls wore poodle skirts, you dropped a quarter in the juke box, and home-cookin' was the norm.....eat at the Southern Flyer. My family & I eat there quite often & have never gotten a bad meal. Everything is good.....the chicken fried chicken is the BEST!!! Their quesadillas are good too....so is the chicken parmesan....and the chicken fried steak...and the chicken sandwich....and the Huge grilled chicken salad....and the catfish....and you HAVE to try one of their Malts/Shakes......YUMMY!!!! The atmosphere is that of a local 50's Diner...the waitresses serve you wearing poodle skirts....and you can drop a quarter in the Juke Box to play 5 songs. They also have a screened-in deck for outdoor seating. It's very nice to sit outside and enjoy your delicious meal... during the cooler months. You can also watch the smaller planes fly in and out of the airport. My son LOVES that! If you haven't tried the Southern Flyer...you must go!!

“Fly in and eat at a 50's diner right on the airstrip!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

We love the Southern Flyer! The management is awesome! We fly there, land, and walk right in the door back in time to the 50's, complete with waitresses in poodle skirts and music in the jukebox. The hamburgers and fries are the best, but they have a wide variety of diner foods. Check out the chicken fried chicken sandwich while you're there. Of course, you don't have to fly in to enjoy it. You can drive too.

“Denny's with a poodle skirt”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

The Southern Flyer Diner was not all that it was cracked up to be. The waitresses did wear poodle skirts but the food was overpriced and the atmosphere was lacking. There was a juke box in the restaurant to go along with the decor but you had to pay for each song, so there was only the sound of the kitchen and the neighboring table to listen to. In addition to lack of 50's excitement you would be lucky to see 1 plane land or take off and they sat most of their customers inside without a view of the runway.

Summary: 50's feel was not entertaining, food was average, don't go out of your way to visit.
