It was only because of enthusiastic recommendations from three locals that we ignored a couple of scathing reviews of this restaurant and took a chance. As a result, my sister and I had two delicious meals (Chicken Piccata and Eggplant Parmigiana).
Large, homemade, freshly-baked dinner rolls were served with a small salad. The latter was the only disappointing part of the meal,,, a dish of (fresh) greens, with one small tomato slice in the middle.
The dinner course was so large neither of us came close to cleaning our plates. I didn't taste the Piccata, but the pasta must have been good because my sister ate all of that while leaving two large pieces of chicken. My eggplant had three large, thick slices that were lightly breaded. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly, but the crowning touch was the marinara - the best I've had in years, not too tart, not too sweet. If I hadn't been stuffed, I would have sopped up the excess with one of those fluffy rolls!
Ambiance was a bit off-putting. It's only because of that and the boring salad that I don't give them a "5"
