“Veal and stuffed mushrooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

Was in Brenham for Maifest and asked about restaurants. This was one of 3 mentioned as being the best in town. (note, two of the photos on Trip Advisor are not of Volare, but rather of Ernie's.)

It was a Saturday night and was fairly busy with large and small tables (up to 16 in one), Maifest, and prom. Still, the place was very clean, comfortable, and the waitstaff was great (my primary waiter, and the waitress of the next section who helped when a large table was seated.). Had Funghi Ripieni (stuffed mushrooms) for an appetizer ($6.99) - excellent! Main course was Vitello Marsala ($17.99), also excellent in quality and quantity. No problem substituting a different side pasta. Had their house Chianti ($5.99), which was fine for a house wine. Maybe a slight bid pricy (by about a buck), but worth the visit if you're in the area.

“Very Average Italian Fare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We were told that Volare was one of the best, if not THE best Italian restaurants in Texas. Maybe that set our expectations too high. The menu was relatively interesting but the food was extremely average and we would not rush to go there again. The decor was also cold and uninspired.

“A Love Hate Relationship”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

This is by far the best Italian restaurant in Brenham and Washington County, Texas. Unfortunately, it is the only one! When they are on their game the food is excellent and the service good. When they are off their game or crowded, the food drops a notch and the service is awful.

My wife, daughter and I ate there last week and both food and service were good even though they were crowded due to Round Top Weekend and Antiques Fair. I love their veal piccata and it was top notch. My daughter has a dish with large tube pasta and the pasta was seriously under done.

I can't/don't eat Italian without red wine and their selection is extensive but also expensive. Oh well, it was a good meal and the food prices are always reasonable.
