Minimalist decor is okay, lack of usual room amenities, such as shampoo, lighted alarm clock, in-room coffee, and free breakfast, is okay. Beds okay, pillows okay, thin towels okay. Room appears very clean. Soundproofing is awful, and I prayed the dog next door would not bark all night, and it did not. Nearby road noise would bother a light sleeper. People walking on bare floors on second floor was a definite drawback. Wash basin hot and cold water lines were crossed. All of those things were semi-tolerable. Noise from upstairs shower was not tolerable. It sounded like a freight train going through our room.
We normally stay in Choice Hotels mid-range brands, such as Sleep Inn, Quality Inn, and Comfort Inn, but the Comfort Inn in this town was rated at 7 out of 8, while Motel 6 was rated at 3 out of 8, so we decided to give this place a try. I have a really good special organization rate with Choice Hotels and used AAA at Motel 6. Price difference was $5.
After the folks upstairs took their (blessedly brief) shower, I was wishing we were at one of the other motels in town.
It's okay, but get a second floor room.
