“Great Get Away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We stayed there last weekend and loved it. The grounds are full of flowers and the cabins are very accomodating and comfortable. We loved relaxing on the back porch and having a glass of wine with our neighbors. A great place if you want to get away for the phone, computer and TV.

Just setting a reservation with this place was such a hassle. I should have stopped there. The area is very nice but, the cottages are old and out of date and a little overpriced for what you get. Dont spend your precious time hereQ

I just needed to get away, and I got so much more. The cabin was lovely, with an excellent porch view of the river and the night sky. Downtown Blanco is just about half a mile away, and I had an excellent dinner at the Red Bud. After a relaxing jacuzzi bath in my little cabin I went outside and watched the stars from my porch swing, with a sweet kitty on my lap. Who could ask for more? The cabin was clean and well appointed (and smelled great!) I will return...

We booked and paid for a cabin for two nights. We were late arriving and the owner had rented our cabin to another couple who showed up late and wanted a cabin. There were no other cabins available. Her solution was to cancel and refund another party her money for the second night. The place is up for sale and it is obvious the owner is not interested in spending any money on the property. Our breakfast (precooked sausage patties and biscuits) for Sunday was delivered at noon on Saturday and left on the counter in our cabin for us to reheat the following day.

Cabins were nice and relaxing. I was a little disappointed that the river was completely dried up and no one told us that before we went. Also, the place seemed a little run down. The fire pit in the pavilion had trash in it, mini golf course had grass growing on the green. The tvs are very small and outdated. I guess its a good place if you are older, but i wouldnt recommend this place to a younger couple. The staff was very nice though and the muffins and juice were great.
For the money though, i think there are many better choices.

Room Tip: I wish we couldve been in cabin 101 it looks the nicest. Cabin 105 is one of the only cabins with no...

We did a bicycle tour of Texas Hill Country in April (with Timberline) and stayed one night at Blanco Settlement. The cabins were lovely - nicely appointed, spacious and clean, with a little back porch overlooking the river. The hostess left us freshly baked muffins and fruit salad (in the small refrigerator in the room), along with juice and cold water. I certainly would stay there again if I travel back to that area. As an aside, we had dinner at a fantastic upscale/chic restaurant in Blanco - Uptown Blanco Restaurant.

My adult daughter & I had a relaxing mother/daughter weekend in the hill country and chose Blanco Settlement (www.blancosettlement.com) as our home base. There are an unscale gift shop as well as RV hookups on-site. There are nine cabins with unobstructed views of the Blanco River. Seven cabins have one queen-size bed ($105) and the other two cabins have 2 double-beds ($135), one of which we chose. The cabins are clean and nicely decorated with beautiful bed-linens. They have a microwave oven, sink, full-size coffee maker and small refrigerator containing breakfast snacks. We augmented with hard-boiled eggs, yogurt and fruit. The TV looked older than the cabins which were built seven years ago and did not have cable, so evening viewing was very limited. But, we were not there to watch TV! The rocking chairs on the back porch overlooking the Blanco River gave us a perfect setting.

We attempted to eat lunch at the highly touted "Uptown Blanco", but they were closed to the public for a private function. Next time! We had pre-registered for a cooking class at Onion Creek Kitchens at Juniper Hills Farm, only 4 miles away (www.juniperhillsfarm.com) which we thoroughly enjoyed Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, we took the Bella Vista Ranch guided tour, $10.00 each, (www.bvranch.com) in Wimberley. It features the first commerically producing olive orchard in Texas and our tour included an olive oil tasting as well as a wine tasting. We would like to make this little trip an annual event and Blanco Settlement will be our choice of accommodations.
