After much research on-line, I chose the Hill Country Equestrian Lodge for my Labor Day weekend stay. The reason for my choice was because of the website pictures of the accomodations, barn, property, etc. and the communication from this ranch regarding questions that I had. Dianne addressed all of my inquiries in a timely and complete manner. Her professionalism was noticed immediately.
Upon my arrival Diane was waiting for me with instructions, maps, etc. I drove into the ranch and first unloaded my horse. The stalls were very roomy, clean, as was the entire barn. The stall had fresh water, bedding on the ground, and the stall was cleaned each day. The arena was very roomy and riding area on the ranch was extremely enjoyable. I also road my horse in the park next door and Dianne made sure I had a map and understanding of the park - it was gorgeous!
The cabin was perfect! I did understand that the kitchen had "breakfast" food, but was surprised at the amount of food and what great food it was! The refrigerator had milk, orange juice, butter, eggs, bacon and the kitchen also had cereal, oatmeal, fresh fruit, muffins, popcorn, coffee, etc! The cabin was spotless and very comfortable. My favorite part of the cabin was the beautiful view from the front porch. The pictures on line just doesn't show how pretty it is.
Although I did not ride Dianne's horses, I was usually around while she instructed others and took them out on rides. Her attention to detail and safety was incredible. Again, her professionalism was most impressive. The other guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and their rides, not too mention their rides were all beautiful, healthy horses. You can tell that her animals are well taken care of.
One afternoon as I was riding around on the ranch, from a distance I saw a gentleman notice the door on my horse trailer. The screen door was slightly open because I cannot close it all the way. He fooled around with the door for a few minutes then he walked away. Later that day when I returned to my trailer I noticed that he fixed the screen door and had it closed. I can only assume that this was Peter, the other owner of the ranch, as it was right in line with every other experience that I had with Dianne. Anything to help their guests will be done!
On another occasion, one guest was having a problem loading his horse into his trailer. Again, the helpfulness was apparent. I watched Dianne visit with the guest and his horse for quite sometime assisting him with his problem. The guest explained later that Dianne had his horse in the trailer "within 5 minutes". The last time he loaded the horse it took one hour.
Dianne attended to every need that I had during my stay. The other guests that had stayed with her before had nothing but positive feedback about her hospitality and ability. Her attention to detail enabled me to get the most out of my trip that was only 3 nights. I do wish I had stayed longer. I highly recommend HCEL to anyone looking for a perfect get away and will definately stay with Dianne again.
