We adored this historic inn right on the Balmorhea, Texas, town creek, with clear, cold mountain spring water rushing by your front door when you step out on the unique cement deck. Even though an ephemeral creek, it would still be a kick to sit out in the cool mornings and evenings. Our room with bath was very clean, well appointed, and the bed was a very good rest. Listen, if you like your Gucci to match your Pucchi, then this ain't the hotel for you. For the rest of us who love authentic environments and don't mind the eclectic patios and rooms, it's a fine, fine little hotel that is quite peaceful and enjoyable. We'll stay there again as the host is a very nice person who is very responsive to any needs. Ah, Balmorhea...cool dry wind rushing down the mountains, wind chimes tinkling, and water gurgling--a truly sweet time capsule of a mountain town, reminiscent of simpler decades in this nation.
