I was surprised how small our room was. There were 2 adults & toddler (needed crib) staying in room with balcony. Room had 2 queen size beds, a small fridge, a tv with tv enclosure with attached 3 drawer dresser, a table with a chair, another long, short table. Next to the AC unit was 2 oversized chairs with a tall, round table. There was to much crammed into the room (then add the crib which had to be put by the door). My son had little room to play & every time he'd walk around he'd bump into something & cry. We had to put one of the tables outside on the balcony. My son couldn't go on the balcony b/c he fit through the wooden slots & would have fallen through. The hotel had an incredible view of the mountain & was very quiet outside. Although we could hear the tv & people talking in the next room. The hotel is in good shape but it's older (I am guessing that's why the rooms are so small). I would advise people with yound kids to stay elsewhere in one of the newer hotels nearby, as I am sure they would have bigger rooms (they do have a small playground, but it's not made for young kids). I was really disappointed how everything was crammed into the room leaving little room for my son to walk around. We ended up cutting short our stay.

Wonderful place to stay! Everyone from the housekeepers to the owners made us feel so relaxed. The rooms are immaculate and the mountain views are beautiful.

This Inn is very clean, quiet and set in a beautiful postcard setting. The lack of an attached restaurant and hotel ammenities is not missed at all. The rooms are quiet and prove it's the "peaceful side of the Smokies". We've stayed there several times and will continue to stay there.

It's a great hotel, but we had no microwave.

The Highland Manor Hotel was just what we were looking for: A quiet, peaceful setting, with a resturant and grocery store across the road. The hotel provided an excellent housekeeping, maintenience dept., and helpful check-in staff. Our room was without a microwave. This was a problem as the resturants and stores across the road closed around 10 p.m. We like to have warm snacks (popcorn, cocoa, pizza, ect.) before bedtime. We also didn't have a coffee maker nor hair dryer. I loved the floral and plaid sheets. That was a special touch that was very inviting and cozy.
We always had plenty of towels and the housekeeping dept. never bothered us with loud knocking or talking. The continental breakfast is over too soon, as we like to take advantage of late mornings. There is a resturant across the road but to our surprise it was closed some of the days.
The landscaping was very nice and kept up. We enjoyed the flowers while sitting on our balcony
over looking the mountains. The swimming pool was very nice. But at times the noise was too loud. Over-all this was an excellent hotel, but it could be even better with a microwave!

We stayed three nights at this inn while visiting the Smokies. It has a pretty setting in a peaceful town - a far cry from the hectic tourism of Gatlinburg and with easy access to the park. The room was adequate and the service attentive - they even made advance dinner reservations for us prior to arrival. However, the room was short of standard motel anemities, such as bathroom supplies, the beds were not in the best condition, and the so-called continental breakfast was very skimpy - we felt it necessary to have breakfast out all three mornings.
