“SUPER LITTLE MOTEL!!! CLEAN, GOOD BED, WONDERFUL PEOPLE.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2010

I had read the reviews of this nice little motel, and trip advisor did us good again!!
We love Townsend, Tn. it's a quaint little quiet town, and this little motel just makes it that much better. If you like CLEAN, well this is the place to stayt. I usually don't take off my shoes or socks to walk on the floors, but in this place, it is so clean I walked bare foot. There was NO mold around the tubs like in most motels, NO dirt, it was squeeky clean and we loved it. The bed slept very good, and that is what we do in a motel, sleep. This little place looks like a 50's style motel, they have kept it very original and the changes or updates only make it nicer. The shower was great, love the dispensers for the soap, shampoo and lotions. You will NOT be disappointed if you stay in the Gateway Inn in Townsend, Tn. Thank you so much, we will be back.

Discovered the gateway inn from reading tripadvisor. Very glad I did. We arrived about 11am and were able to check into our room right away. We mentioned we had planned to go tubing and the owner mentioned they have a special deal with "River rage tubing". We took advantage of it and only paid $6.00 each for all day tubing as opposed to $9.00 it would have cost if we paid directly at River rage. Stayed in a double bed room at $69.00 a night. Beds were very comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. The room was very tastefully decorated and the hard wood floors were a nice change from standard motel dingy carpeting. The room was very clean. The room also had a nice tv with tons of channels. There are rocking chairs in front of each room and you can hear the sound of the river which is directly across the street. The welcome baskets were a very nice touch. Several snacks including muffins, peanuts and sun chips as well as coffee were included. As has been mentioned, the motel is very close to cades cove. The only drawback to the location is its a bit of a drive into Pigeon forge/Gatlinburg. However, that would depend on the time of your visit. We stayed in July when everything is packed and there was tons of traffic everywhere. I imagine if you visited during a slower month when the roads are less crowded it would be a very enjoyable drive to reach either city as both drives are beautiful. All in all my wife and I were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend staying at this great motel.

I wanted a clean, comfortable motel for my most recent trip to the Smokies. The Townsend Gateway Inn did not disappoint. Everyone we met was friendly from the staff to the other guests. The rooms are very clean. The beds were comfortable and the linens were fine. My only complaint was the air conditioner. It has not been recently updated. Although it kept our room cool (it was quite hot that week in the mountains!), it was very noisy. Of course, we were all so tired from hiking it didn't matter too much. Overall a great place to stay. I will return.

Orginially we were going to stay at a different hotel from last year, but wasn't able. Read the reviews and decided to go for i,t and if you like a quiet, and peaceful and clean enviroment., this is the place. Great location and the best restaurant is within walking distance!

I attended the Christy Fest in Townsend this past week and was delighted with the accomodations. The bathroom was SPOTLESS, not a speck of mold or mildew anywhere. The floors sparkeled, walked sock foot and not a dust speck to be seen! The walls are freshly painted and I did not initially realize they are concrete cinder blocks.....makes the rooms nearly sound proof. There were people in the rooms on both sides of my room, yet I never heard a toilet flush or a shower start or any of the other sounds you hear in a thinner walled motel. The furniture is unique and comfortable, the goody basket delivered each day was a special treat. The rocking chairs on the front porch...pure relaxation, especially when the gray white cat would come and sit and visit for a minute. A very relaxing ,comfortable, budget friendly place to stay.

My husband and I drove down to get a way for a night. This place was like "Mayberry" but with all the modern conveniences. I have NO complaints! Our room was clean and very comfortable. Everyone was extremely nice to us. I can't wait to go back. I will highly recommend this to everyone.

Pulled up to this 1950's-style motel and thought i had made a mistake. then i saw the fresh paint, the cute cabins adjacent to the motel rooms, and the welcoming check-in "house." house phone connected to owner dave and he came right down from his house on the hill and was all smiles as he showed us our room. what a surprise! beautiful wooden floor, king bedroom suite, modern decor! the bathroom is old but very clean and suitable, with sink vanity outside toilet and bathroom. continental breakfast is made in room: delicious organic coffee but packaged snacks, but dave's working on that. very comfortable, small motel on the west side of the smoky mountains and closest to cades cove. can't wait to return.
