“Quiet and Comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

This trip we decided to stay on the 'quiet side' of the Smokies and this place did not disappoint. Our room was a bit smaller than those where we usually stay, but it was clean and comfortable. I didn't think to ask earlier when we checked in about pillows and linens for the couch where I was going to be sleeping, but later that night I was quickly accomodated when I did ask. Not only that, but the woman was so awesome as to bring me a huge mattress pad that I doubled up to make it more comfortable.

We joined in with about half a dozen other people who seemed to know each other at the nightly campfire they offer, where we got to listen to some great strumming and singing,

Rooms are nothing fancy and bathroom was small, but definitely clean and comfortable as I mentioned before. In room offerings also included a coffee pot, refrigerator, and microwave.

We discovered staying here was so much more easier than on the other side. It put us closer to Cades Cove where we wanted to go our first full day, and it was much easier to take Wears Valley Rd. up to Sevierville and Pigeon Forge than to fight all the traffic from Gatlinburg where we usually stay.

Will definitely stay here again!

My brother has stayed at Riverstone on several occasions and had nothing but wonderful things to say about it. His review is from April 2012 by bayouusaf. Since he so highly recommended it, I decided to give it a try on our most recent trip to the area instead of staying at another Townsend hotel that I'd used in the past. (The other hotel was also excellent; I was just looking for something different.)

We arrived late, almost 9pm after a very long day on the road driving from Louisiana. Check-in was quick and easy; Belinda had our key already out and paperwork ready for my signature, then we were headed to the room. The room was clean with plenty of room for the two of us.

The peace and quiet of the evening was exactly what I'd been looking forward to most about our time in the Smokies, and I wasn't disappointed. Hearing a nearby rooster crowing the next morning put a smile on my face, and drinking my coffee while watching the morning fog burn off of the mountain was a great way to start the day.

As far as location goes, you can't get much closer to the park entrance than this. The restaurant next door has a great breakfast, which we took advantage of both mornings. I suspect we'll be staying here again when we visit Townsend in the future.

This is a regular stay for us! The staff is good and the place is comfortable! There is a campfire every night. The location is great to visit the Cade's Cove! The restaurant has great food; the servers are pretty relaxed so don't be in a hurry.

My wife and I have visited Gatlinburg several times, but have never been to Cades Cove. This place was very close to the park entrance and had good reviews, so we gave it a try. While the room was a basic motel room, it was clean, and had a nice restaurant next door. The rate was very reasonable. We would definitely stay here again on our next visit to Cades Cove.

just got back from Townsend - stayed at the Riverstone Lodge for the first time. We absolutely loved it. Loved sitting around the campfire at night, meeting other guests. Very relaxing. Seeing a bear behind the restaurant next door was awesome! Plan to stay at Riverstone each time we go down - our new home away from home! The owners make you feel like part of the family.

was back at riverstone again, for the second time this summer. again loved it and did not want to leave. this time had a special guest, a couple of black bears that would come to the dumpsters behind the restauraunt during the night. the first night it was 2245, the second night it was 2211. i noticed that when the business next to the restauraunt would close its door the bears would show up about 10 min later. that was cool. wish that i could just move there and never leave. townsend is close to everything except the crap that occurs on the other side of the mountain. don't get me wrong, i went over there but could not wait to return to the quiet side. riverstone lodge is one of the nicest places that i have ever been and you don't have to worry about locking your door if you are going to the pool, or the firepit and deck, or to watch the bears. if you dont like quiet and peaceful then i would stay in knoxville, peigon forge or even gatlinburg. if you are really trying to get some real R&R then riverstone is the place to go. will not find more helpful hotel owners than terry and belinda absolutely great people. terry even got me a patch, now one from marryville terry.

Room Tip: all rooms are good, the ones directly next to the office are smaller while the ones in the two story...

We stayed here overnight so that we wouldn't have to drive home after a night bike ride at Cades Cove. It was clean and quiet. The pool was really cute & well kept. There's a nice little wooden patio with rocking chairs arranged in a circle around a fire pit. Staff built a fire in the evening so that people could enjoy a little bit of a camping feel. I will stay here again.
