“cute, just not cute enough.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

Came in with a blazing hangover, wanted coffee and a fresh newspaper prior to driving home. Asked for fresh juice, they had none, got concentrated for $3.75, smoked salmon/bagel, coffee totalled about $19.00. Spendy, and not much to it. Cute girlies, though.

“Small Town Eatery at its finest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

Just last week at this time I had never heard of Sewanee Tennessee or The University of the South at Sewanee. As luck might have it, I stumbled into Sewanee on a business trip and after following the recommendation of a friend, I found myself at the Blue Chair Bakery and coffee shop, enjoying life.

If you could package everything good about the South on a lazy summer day, shake it up and serve it on a plate with a side of yes ma’am—you get the Blue Chair Bakery and Coffee Shop. This place is exactly what you would think a small town Mom and Pop sandwich shop to be. The building is a house converted into a restaurant so the dining area still has the feel of “Moms house”. The atmosphere is clean, quaint, and quiet. Service is exceptionally “small town” friendly and the sweet tea is just right. Not a whole lot of fancy frills, or fuss here. The food is right, equipped with that home cooking love and the price is where it should be. There are no cons here as honestly, the restaurant lives up to exactly what it claims to be. If you want a sexy black dress and bow ties spread, this isn’t the place for you, however if you are looking to forget about the daily rat race for a relaxing quiet meal—take a seat in the blue chair.

“Taylor Swift ate here! Even has a breakfast entree named after her!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012 via mobile

The Blue Chair was a perfect spot to get a delicious cup of coffee, bakery items and a light breakfast on a Sunday morning. We ate on the porch, enjoying the pretty garden (with blue chairs) and Sewanee students walking by. Pretty sitting areas inside to study or read, and a tastefully appointed restroom. Service on patio was excellent.

“Fun little sandwich shop, not good service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2012

My second visit with a group of gal friends while visiting Monteagle Assembly. Our first experience was delightful. This time not so much. The waitress seemed very put out that we were there. Offered to re-serve an incorrect drink order from one of our party to another one. Anyway, just a bad day for her I guess, but left us feeling underwhelmed with the service. Food was good. Quaint little community and some non profit 'benefits' with their profits. I like that idea.
