“Misleading advertising”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013 via mobile

They do not have a fenced in dog park as they allude to having a "bar park". They say they have an adult pool and do not, kids in both pools and when you complain they say they allow it and do not try to enforce it. So why advertise it?? Very misleading and disappointing and we use amenties to pick a place. Will not come back just because they mislead.

River Plantation has just completed phase one of property improvements that includes our new lodge and paving the ring road. Future phases include the pool deck area and the old lodge location. We are working hard to improve the guest experience at River Plantation in short order.

Chose this park due to fantastic experience we had at sister park in Freeport , FL. This park has good amenities but misleads dog owners with their claim of a dog park. They have a dog walk which several other campgrounds closer to interstate also have. Sister park has Bark Park as well but is fenced and huge. Won't stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the campground for our anniversary. It was extremely clean and the bathrooms looked more like a hotels bathroom with nice sink counters and tile floor. I was quite surprised since must places I stay are clean but not as nicely updated. The pools were clean and warm and the hot tub was really relaxing. Overall a fantastic experience.

The campground is right on the main highway but far away that it is not noisy. All the sites are level and ones that backup to the creek are nice and private at least behind your RV. The entire campground was level which made great for bike riding for kids. The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were total opposites. The one in middle was excellent(clean, good pressure) but one by pool was terrible as no water pressure in 3 of 4 stalls. The pools were closed and playground was in a flooded area so nothing for kids to do. The sites up against the decent moving creek were nice. If you are just staying to sleep and visit attractions during day, the location is ideal. Everything is basically 15 minutes away depending on traffic. There is ton on lights on main highway but everything is marked well. Dollywood, Smokies and Gaitlenburg were all worth the trip. We will try a different campground next time.

We chose this campground having had a wonderful experience at the RVC campground resort in Freeport Florida. There is no comparison to this park! The brochure I had on this park stated , riverside or pull through sites. We were given a tight back-in. I specifically chose this Park as it advertised a Bark Park - there was none. In addition while walking our Standard Poodles on leash a small Boston Terrier rushed our dog and started snarling in her face. When my husband interceded he was bitten by the Terrier. I was also really anticipating a swim in the advertised " two pools and hot tub" . Nothing in the literature said they would not be open. All in all, the campground is clean but nothing special and certainly not what we experienced at the other RVC location.

Let me start by saying that I've been spoiled. We just stared camping again this year and every time we camped before it was in Townsend, Tennessee. To be fair, I am comparing two different animals here so take it how you see it. The great thing about this place is location. You are just minutes away from all the attractions in the Forge and the campground is nice, clean and kid friendly. My only problem is that there is zero privacy. The campers are parked in such a way that you essentially share "backyards" with people. In our site the fire ring was mere feet from the neighbors. This is due to the campground being so large/filled with sites. I like my camping just a little more private so we'll only come back for a weekender here or there but if you don't mind about that this is the place for you. Excellent, convenient location at a fair price. Townsend is more relaxing and private but the cost is over double and you're a decent drive from any attractions.

We have now stayed here a few times. We don't own an RV. Each time we have stayed in one of their cabins and we have been wowed everytime! This campground is CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!! The cabins are a great way to camp without the tent! There are two rockers on the porch, perfect for relaxing day or night. There is a comfy bed PLUS a bunk bed inside. AC/Heat and cable t.v. and a ceiling fan. Each cabin has its own picnic table, camp ring and grill outside. They are close to the arcade, restrooms/shower, office, pools and playground. The shower/restroom is beautifully done and is well appointed from the counter tops to the room shower stalls with their wooden doors. We fell in love with the place the first time we stayed and we keep going back. Free fresh coffee in the mornings at the office and super friendly staff. I would recommend anyone staying here. Cheaper than a hotel when you add in ALL the ameneties! You can not beat the value! Just outside Pigeon Forge and nestled quietly off the parkway. This place is a GEM!!!!
