We spent 3 nights at Berry Springs recently and it's now in our top 3 best places we have stayed. Partick and Sue are wonderful hosts- friendly and welcoming without being intrusive and Melissa (I'm sure it was Melissa who served breakfast a few mornings) was warm and hospitable.
The Lodge is beautiful. Our room - Newberry Springs was simply perfect- bigger than it looked on the website - comfortable bed, nice rocking chair, fireplace, spotlessly clean, nice en-suite and a private balcony with hot tub.
The views are beautiful and the facilities were flawless - a gym, internet access, enough books and dvd's to fill a whole month indoors, two fishing ponds (with a hammock nearby for lazing) a pavilion, bikes - the list is endless.
The food is outstanding - 3 course breakfast?! and Sue's desserts and tray bakes are to die for with round the clock tea, coffee, soda and nibbles on offer.
I think what gives Berry Springs the edge over other properties is the attention to detail- little touches like the evening turndown service (complete with chocolates on the pillow) and the ice bucket being filled in your room each evening. It feels like being welcomed into a friends home but it never feels like you are intruding.
Berry Springs has a very well deserved place in the 'Distinguished Inns of North America'- personally I think it deserves the 'Most Distinguished Inn' ttile! It's simply flawless.
The accolades are merited - long may they continue.
