We had a terrible experience at Smoky Cove and for this reason we would not recommend this as a good place for a vacation. For a recent vacation we rented four cabins (of various size) for our annual family trip - a significant amount of money considering the current economy and somewhat of a jaunt getting there. The cabins are okay in terms of cleanliness (but read on) and quality of furnishings, but I would not consider them to be of great value as the marketing website states. After our first night stay we had to swap one cabin because of insect bites. The office was difficult to deal with and at first argued with us that it was "our fault". Finally, they admitted there was a problem and told us they were probably flees from a previous renter who should not have had pets. We were never exactly sure if it was flees or something else but it should not have been this way to begin with.
My overall opinion is that these cabins are very over rated on their marketing websites and materials and the management needs to go back to school to learn the meaning of "hospitality". They should also be more responsible in terms of pest control.
