“Wonderful people, Inn & meals for Bristol race weekend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

What a wonderful place! We were "welcomed" with warm smiles, people and pets alike. The room (The Jefferson Suite) is amazing, loved the size, the cleanliness, comfortable bed,the microwave & frdge. Our trip to Bristol was a huge dream come true. A "Bucket List" adventure was the Bristol Race Weekend for my husband. Mountain Harbour, it's hospitality and the beautiful surroundings made for such a wonderful trip! Mary's cooking is WONDERFUL, (so was David & Shannon). The other guest that weekend shared wonderful stories at the Breakfast table and it made for such a relaxing morning. One morning we ate outside on the front porch swing while listening to the waterfall, the animals, and the breeze. The help in planning a fun day was much appreciated with the advice from other guests,David & Shannon's directions on "how to get there from here" very helpful and the day very enjoyable. Thank you all! We do hope to come again.

This was our first trip since the birth of our son in April. We brought him a long which we were a little nervous about but he behaved great. Mary was so very friendly and her breakfast was delicious!!! We stayed in the Jefferson Suite which was wonderful. It had A LOT of room and a private bathroom. Everyone was so friendly it made me feel like I was staying at my mom's house and not a bed and breakfast!! It was wonderful and we can't wait until our next trip. Although pet friendly you couldn't tell pets had ever been in the rooms. They were VERY clean!! Thank you for a great time!!

Room Tip: Jefferson room is large and has private bath. All rooms looked good though.

It seems that every superlative has already been used to describe Mary, Terry, and their B&B plus hostel. A wall plaque in the house near the front door says to come as guests and leave as friends. Right on! My wife and I came to do some hiking on the Appalachian Trail. Mary shuttled us for a day hike and then Terry shuttled us for a three-day backpack. Most of the hikers are younger (we're both over seventy-five), but another couple we chatted with over Mary's incredible breakfast were there to drive parts of the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway. Just staying there and watching the world go by from the shady front porch would also be a pleasant option. And if you like animals, as we do, there are more than just dogs and cats around: at least four goats, three horses, and a mule. What a fun and gracious place!

Room Tip: Rooms in the house are of course excellent, but the hostel is definitely a cut above. We've sta...

Can't say enough good things! Breathtaking setting and all the little extras...extremely clean, animal friendly, outdoor comfort as well as indoor charm. Breakfast like no other, staff was wonderful and helpful and made everyone feel relaxed and welcome :) Would highly recommend to anyone hiking or just passing through the area <so much better than a hotel!!>.

I did a sectionn hike from Davenport Gap to Route 19E in June 2012, ending at Mountain Harbour Hostel. My one-night stay there was excellent.

it's a short downhill walk tothe west of the Trail, close enough so as not to even bother hitchhiking. the owner and staff were friendly. I arrived after the 5 PM shuttle but she still brought me to the barbecue place in town where I got a plate of pulled pork for $7. in the morning,I got the $9 breakfast, which others had told me was a gourmet feast - and it was. imaginative items shared at elegant tables with the B & B guests as well as other thikers.

The place was exceptionally clean. it was a hot day and my only complaint was that the loft where the four single beds were, was very hot - so i slept on the porch using my air mattress instead.

After breakfast, I used the wifi on my smartphone while sitting in the lovely living room of the B & B. and got a shuttle in to Johnson City.

Summary: excellent excellent excellent.

Mary may well be the best inn keeper I have had the pleasure of knowing! She never seems to run out of steam or stories and puts out the best array of breakfast delicacies one could ever dream of. We stayed in the Jefferson Room..not in the hostel...but everyone we met was so friendly and knowledgeable! A true gem and the fact that she serves so many HUNGRY AT thru-hikers more than just food..but offers advice...wisdom..and says just the thing they need to hear to keep them going.....this place is a shining example of what and how a B and B should be and is! Thanks Mary, Terry, and the whole family! Good luck hikers!!!

Room Tip: The Jefferson Room has a private bath..that was important to me!

The people, the breakfast, the animals! This is a great place to rest after a
day or week or month of hiking-or just to go to get away from it all. Mary and Terry are the best hosts, and are there to help in any way they can. Best of the best!

Room Tip: Any or all rooms are great-The Jefferson rooms' jacuzzi can't be beat!
