“Expected a little more”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

First of all, the setting is wonderful...mountains, waterfalls, lake, fall color. But will never go back for an overnight stay again. My husband and I had spend a week in Gatlinberg and then planned a 3 night stay at FCF. When we checked in, the woman was not friendly at all. She gave us the spiel of finding our place, the restaurant and so on but it was like she had said it 200 times before that day. We rented a 3 bedroom house on the lake because it had a woodburning fireplace. First of all, the parking was far from the house. The house itself is old and smelled musty. Thank goodness we had plenty of firewood because the wood shed was far away. Don't know how we would have gotten more into the house without making lots of trips. Plus the firewood was cut so short, it was hard to build the fire. The good thing was the view from our deck, right over the water was very nice. This was probably the best thing about the place. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. The furniture was old and dirty. We enjoyed exploring the park and waterfalls, seeing lots of wildlife, etc. But we will do it as a day trip from now on. The house is priced way more than it is worth!

I stayed in the fisherman's cabin Oct 5-7, 2012. For the price, you are thinking what a deal! It is a deal being that you can fish from the deck! When when it was raining, we were outside on the deck fishing. The kids really enjoy themselves. Now to the inside of the cabin. It hadn't had a good cleaning in a while. Even though it was old, doesn't have anything to do with the way it look. There were holes in the wall in the bedrooms. We killed lot of spiders! What bothers me, is the fact that all this cabin needs is a little mopping, dusting, and the everyday things with cleaning. Will I go back? Yes because the fishing was great and the falls are beautiful! But cleaning was an issue!

We traveled with 5 young boys, are dog & camper to Fall Creek Falls after hearing rave reviews. This was our 9th State Park we've stayed at. Pros: Beautiful scenery, nice camp store, lots to do. Now, the cons...The camping spots are tiny & packed together. There are few "full hook up" spots which left us trying to flush sparingly. Our campsite was fully of bugs & mosquitos. If you're staying at the campground, be prepared to drive anywhere to hike or play on the playground. While the rocks & sights were gorgeous, they weren't ideal for a family with young children. I slipped & fell, and our 4 yr old nearly drowned! This is not your typical state park. It was busy, loud & overcrowded. Our kids brought their bikes, but the roads were narrow & cars came racing through our campsite. My suggestion? Skip this one, unless you have older kids. We ended up eating our 3 day reservation & leaving after the first night. Not our relaxing trip we had hoped for!

We visit this state park at least once a year. It is in a beautiful remote area of rural TN and the sceanery is always breathtaking. We love all the wildlife This year we saw a lots of turkeys and deer. We stay at the Inn and eat at the restaurant. The Inn is right on the lake and all ooms have a wonderful view of the lake, most have balconeys. Cell phone and Internet service is limited but is avilable in the lobby. There are a lot of paved paths and my husband can get to the beautiful waterfalls overlook in a wheelchair. State Parks in TN are underfunded and this one could certainly do with some additional funding for improvements but the breathtaking views make up for some needed upgrades. The restaurant always has both a buffet and a regular menu and offers a senior discount. We love the food and usually eat the buffet.

Room Tip: The main building with the registration and lobby is the older building. There is a newer building...

Not too bad, Beds were great, but like 1 reviewer said, No Fitted Sheets. The shower was hot then cold then hot, etc. There is no where close to eat, except the Inn and the Buffet there was pricey, but the food was pretty good. Nice views from the balconies. All and All not too bad. Oh yea, No WIFI, and No Cell Service hardly at all lol, remember you are back in the sticks at this one.

We enjoyed our recent stay at the Fall Creek Falls State Park Campground. I called and reserved our site ahead of time. Bathrooms were nice & clean in the B loop. The kids enjoyed the craft programs up at the rec hall. Lots of beautiful hiking & waterfalls. George's Hole is NOT the best place to swim, although it's readily accessible. We much preferred the Cascades, which are on the patch below the Nature Center. Lots of locals on the weekend!

There are beautiful lake views from most (if not all) rooms at this hotel. It can be a bit crowded on weekends (it was fully booked the weekend we visited). We had a "patio" room which meant that it was on the ground floor. There was a definite dampness issue. The room was clean but you could see the effects of humidity such as rust around the vents and some mildew. If I go back, I will try a room on an upper level.

Room Tip: Try a balcony room instead of a patio room.
