“Good hotel, nice stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2009

We spent one night at this hotel on the final leg of a trip to Asheville. I would stay here again. The lobby for the hotel is extremely inviting. It looks like a great place to hang out and relax. The pool area was inviting with arcade games for kids. I imagine the pool gets pretty crowded during busy times. The room was nice with a couple of small exceptions. The move to flat panel tv is a good idea and the room will be better for it. The renovation did not include replacing the tub/shower combo. The one in room 524 certainly showed its age. I understand not replacing it, but it did detract from the room.

Everything else about the room was nice. There was a refrigerator and microwave in the room. This hotel is definitely in the thick of the traffic. But this is Pigeon Forge and this is what you expect to find. If you think this is bad, drive into Gatlinburg. Overall, a good hotel.

We appreciate your comments and feedback regarding your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Pigeon Forge. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay and would like to stay with us again. Actually, we are moving to the flat panel TVs in all of our guest rooms to improve the quality of our rooms. We do apologize about the condition of the tub/shower in your room. We are working on ways to improve the conditions of these in order to not detract from the overall quality of the room. We invite you to be our guest next time you come to Pigeon Forge!

We were looking for a hotel in pigeon forge and would usually choose the best we could afford in and around the tripadvisor top 10. While reading the review, of the other holiday inn in pigeon forge, I noticed a comment that this hotel was undergoing a complete renovation. The reviews weren't good but trying to read between the lines most people seemed to be just complaining about the building work. I thought what the heck it will be finished by the time we go and the place will be like new. Certainly the work was complete, when we checked in, but the quality of work certainly wasn't what I was expecting. Decoration particularly in the rooms, lifts and hallways was poor quality and badly done. Laminate was peeling off the bathroom door. Old fittings had been reused, where possible, giving the place a tired look which was sad considering the effort that must have gone on into 'doing' the old place up. The photo's of the hotel, on the internet ,are somewhat misleading. The front elevation looks more impressive than it really is but the real let down was the rooms. Certainly the one me stopped in wasn't the one they used for the photo's! The breakfast buffet was poor and cold. However if you choose to eat off the menu it comes freshly cooked and that wasn't bad at all. Most of the staff were friendly enough, particularly in the restaurant. We had some valuables and rather leave them in the room we used the safety deposit boxs behind the front desk. It was disturbing that on the 5 or 6 times we went back to the box we were never asked for I.D. and didn't have to sign anything to prove who we were! Whilst we enjoyed our stay in the smokey mountains I wish I hadn't tried to be clever and stuck with the hotels in the top 10

We would like to thank you for your comments and feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We apologize that you felt the decorations and quality of our facility were not up to par. However, we are still in the process of finalizing the finishing touches of our decor and remodel. We recently acquired new bedding and decor for the rooms, and we hope that you will visit us again to give us another chance at meeting your expectations. As for the food on the buffet being cold, we apologize about this major inconvenience. This is another area of our service improvement process where we are implementing new high standards to ensure guest satisfaction. Thank you for staying with us, and we invite you back to be our guest next time you visit the Smokies.

booked a standard room with 2 double beds, for 3 nights. Lobby was nice, Check-in fast. Lady at check-in was very nice. No-smoking rooms so asked to be close to exits. And she got us just two doors from back exit. They could have a better smoking area. No chairs or cover from the rain. May have a better place to smoke. Didn't ask cause who wants to have to go across the hotel and this area we were at seemed to be where alot were going to smoke.
Beds were ok. pillows were small but nice. When we first got there room was pretty warm but cooled off pretty fast. But on second night was not cooling very good. reported this to front desk but nothing was done. On the third night was not cool. Air kept going off. we took turns getting up to turn it off and then back on, then it would run for a little while.
Pool was small but really nice. disppointed that there was no free breakfast.

the main reason that I would not go back is Housekeeping. On Our first morning there Son had showered and I told him he dropped his money on the bathroom floor. 10 dollar bill. He is 16. we had left going to gatlinburg and he said " oh I forgot my money" I told him it would be ok they would just lay it on the counter. But when we returned the rooms was cleaned but no money. Carol came to our room to tell me that if it had been there her girls would had left it there. That she knew her girls and they would not have taken it. But it was gone. She said she could file a report if I wanted her too. And I did.
Later someone called from manegment and talk to me about it and said to come to the front desk to get the money. And said they would have some one else clean the room but we chose to not have it cleaned again.

So even tho the hotel replaced the money. Was kinda with "here is 10 dollars but our girls didn't take it. So we will be staying some where else in December.

We would like to thank you for the comments and feedback concerning your recent stay st Holiday Inn Pigeon Forge. In the areas where we failed to meet your expectations, please accept our apology. Concerning the situation with the $10 left on the bathroom floor: the Guest Services Manager, Carol, made the decision to offer to replace the $10 after speaking with both parties (Guest and Executive Housekeeper). It was her belief that the $10 may have been picked up with the linens from the bathroom since the housekeeper did not see it, but the parent did. There was a goodwill offer to have the $10 delivered to the room or it could be picked at the desk as well as having the head housekeeper be present when the room was being cleaned. In the end, the decision to have no maid service was made as well as to pick up the $10 at the front desk. If you were left with the feeling that it did not matter, please accept our apology.

I stay here when in the area for business. Never has the hotel been crowded, yet I am never offered a Priority Club upgrade. The rooms have recently been redone and are extremely comfortable. The location, just off the main road, provides a quiet stay.

Location is very good if you want to be in the thick of things. We stayed in #312 which was reasonably quite. On a plus note there was free tickets to the zoo in town for children if you ate at the resturant (kids always eat free at HI) on the down side the staff seemed kinda lackluster and overall the hotel did not seem to warrent the rate we paid in summer. Nothing terribly wrong, just not a great experiance.

We stayed in room 520, which had a king size bed, armchair w/ ottoman, and a large desk. The TV was a standard CRT (roughly 32"). HBO is provided. Room was quiet. AC worked well, but had a slight rattle. Only complaint about the room was that the mattress seemed old and saggy. It did not provide very much back support. Pillows were small but very comfortable. Shower was hot with plenty of water pressure and bathroom was spotless.

Pool was nice, but small and crowded at the time of our trip. It is open until midnight, so may be best to wait until all the kids have left.

Ordered room service breakfast. Food was decent (6 out of 10), but a little cooler than we would have liked. Omelet was very flavorful. Room service was very reasonably priced.

We booked the room through hotwire and paid roughly 70 with tax. For that price, this Hotel was a great value.

First of all, we would like to thank you for choosing to stay at our hotel during your vacation to Pigeon Forge! We thank you for your compliments and your suggestions! We appreciate the comments you gave regarding our bathroom tub. We will now look into ways to improve the bathtubs in each of our guest rooms. Unfortunately, at this time we are unable to accommodate your request for a balcony from a guest room. However, our hotel does have plenty of surrounding land for our guests to recreate outside. Also, with our convenient location right off of the Parkway, many of our guests walk to nearby restaurants, shops, and attractions. We hope that you and your family do decide to stay with us again, and we hope that you and your family are as satisfied with all the accommodations and services we offer you as your daughter is with our pancakes! :)
