This hotel has been recently refurbished (they were still working on a few rooms while we were there). The carpet is new and the furnishing looked new as well. The paint is fresh. Rooms were very clean and housekeeping did a fine job.
The free breakfast was a little to simple for our liking, but free is free. There were three options of cold cereal, regular instant oatmeal, instant grits, plain bagels, bread and waffles for toasting, biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, coffee and juice.
It was only in the low 60's and the sky was very overcast. The outdoor pool was so warm that there was steam coming off of it. My kids loved it! They swam outside everyday for hours. We never used the indoor pool or hot tub because it was always crowded and we didn't need to be indoors. Even swam in the rain!
The front desk personal were pleasant but not overly helpful. When I asked if they had any input on a couple of caverns we were contemplating both people at the desk told me that they didn't know anything about either place. When we asked for some dining ideas they only place they offered or knew anything about was the restaurant immediately next door which is a deli. So, my suggestion is to do your research before arriving or speak with other visitors.
I would stay here again, but would hesitate to pay the high season rates. Although, I have not stayed anywhere else in Pigeon Forge or Gatlingburg for comparison.
