“Nice quiet hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

My mom and I stay here every here for a couple of nights. We love the rooms on the back side with balconies and a mountain view. This hotel seems great for families with children as it has three swimming pools---two outdoor and one indoor.

We have stayed there 2 years in a row, if we can afford it we will go back next year & stay in the same room too. It is in the middle of everything, clean,& well worth the money. With 3 swimming pools, if one is full, you can go to one of the other ones. I told our house keeper the day we arrived, we were big coffee drinkers so she kept us extra coffee all week, & breakfast is great.

This is a huge complex with three pools, conveniently located near Dollywood. We found the parking area a bit puzzling to navigate. When we finally found the check-in area I requested to check in about two hours earlier than the stated time online of 4:00. This did not appear to be a problem but I was given a room adjacent to the elevator, just outside the check-in area. I assumed that this less than desirable location related to my early check-in request, and did not learn until check out that I had actually checked in at the normal time posted in the hotel. We did not plan to spend time in the room at the hotel, so room location was not a big issue.

The reserved room had inadequate towels for our party of five and the bath tub drain did not drain. We reported these issues immediately and they were immediately corrected. Otherwise the room met our expectations. We were less than happy with the breakfast. The breakfast area was contained in a separate, restaurant-like building in the complex. However, because of the size of the hotel the breakfast area was constantly busy and there were too few tables either inside or out to accommodate the guests. The breakfast itself was a disappointment and does not start until 7:00 a.m. There were the usual waffles and bagels, only two kinds of cold cereal, mini donuts and cinnamon swirls. No fresh fruit -- just canned peaches. No yogurt. There were cold boiled eggs to accompany small but very nice biscuits and what apparently was intended to be sausage gravy. It was difficult to find the occasional tiny piece of sausage, although the thick gravy had a good flavor. The gravy was more on the order of "sawmill" gravy, which is prepared with meat grease but contains no actual meat. A hotel on the edge of the Smokies can do better than that with gravy.

Accessing the hotel from the other side of the Parkway is a disaster due to the unrelenting traffic, but this is true for any hotel on the Parkway. The street behind the hotel provides some option, but don't try to turn left at the adjacent traffic light #8 due to the Dollywood traffic.

I likely would not stay here again, if for no other reason than the frustration of the breakfast.

I was a bit nervous about staying at another Best Western, because the previous place we stayed at was disgusting. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Best Western Plaza Inn. The front desk staff (there were three of them) were all pleasant, and very helpful. Our room (a mountain view) was located at the back of the property. (It's almost like two hotels were combined) - they have three pools! We had a private balcony and could see the mountains. The room was HUGE!! It was clean. The only problem was that the toilet was REALLY hard to flush, to the point that I thought I might break my fingers each time I tried to flush. Other than that, I really had no complaints. The wi-fi worked, the breakfast area was more than adequate and very cute. The bed was comfortable, the shower had great water pressure! The area we were located was off a road on the back of the property, which was a DREAM, compared to Parkway. (Horrible, horrible road, always traffic).

Upon check out, the front desk staff (again, there were three people) were very pleasant. I would definitely stay here again. Awesome location!

Room Tip: Try to get a room with a balcony and a mountain view, it's located in the back of the property...

We usually stay in a cabin when coming to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg but we were only in town for one night so we chose the best western. It was decent but I wouldn't stay there again. Only two outlets in the whole room worked... imagine four people trying to charge their cellphones, blowdryer, etc. It was kind of outdated as well. There was a piece of the siding on the wall that had fell off into the floor. One of the biggest issues aside from the outlet was that we had an adjoining door to another room which we did NOT request. That would not be a big deal had whoever was in that room not turned the doorknob and loudly try to enter our room at one in the morning. That was alarming. It was not a terrible place, seemed clean but I would not return.

Room Tip: make sure you request a room WITHOUT an adjoining door

My family has stayed at the Plaza Inn numerous times over the past 20 years. A neighbor recommended it to us, and we have recommended it to others. It is consistently clean, comfortable and well-maintained. The staff is always friendly and professional. The indoor pool is the best. (I remember being in the pool in January as we watched it snow outside. How cool is that?) This is an attractive property, always comfortable, and an excellent value for the dollar.
