We stayed at Sunrise Ridge Resort between October 19 and 26th. This was a pretty secluded location as the road to the resort is very winding and away from the center of everything. However, it's very quiet here and easy to get to. We were able to avoid the strip the first couple of days in the area since this was supposed to be "High Season" for the fall colors. The strip was bumper to bumper with traffic.
The resort is in a good location and we had a wonderful view of the mountains and the morning sunrise from our back deck. We stayed in a one-bedroom and it was very spacious. On one side of the building is a stair for access to the other floors and on the other side is an elevator. The resort is well maintained and the views of the fall colors were beautiful.
We had a bit of a problem with the TV and DVD player as the control didn't allow you to change from one to the other. You had to use the buttons on the side of the TV to change the input to the DVD player. It took a bit to figure out how to change the setting. I inadvertantly changed the channel input and lost the TV channels. I had to call maintenance and they were there very quickly. It turns out I had changed the input channel to channel 4 instead of channel 3. My mistake but it was taken care of quickly.
The bathroom had a regular tub/shower combination and a single sink,. There wasn't a lot of room between the toilet and vanity although there was plenty of room otherwise. The washer and dryer were also in the bathroom.
The kitchen area was shared with the living room but was not inconvenient. There was plenty of room but there was no divider between the two.
The resort is nice with both indoor and outdoor pools. As I've mentioned, the views are great. There is also a lot to do in the area. We took in a couple of the shows, went to the caverns, visited the Bush museum and traveled into the mountains to view the beautiful fall scenery.
I hadn't been to the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area in 40 years, so this was a nice trip all around.
When looking for the resort, just be aware that you may pass a compost facility which had a strong oder some mornings. But you didn't smell it from the resort.
One last thing. If you happen to be in town on a Sunday, visit, "The Gathering". It isn't far from the resort and a very nice place to go to church.
