“Love the cabin”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013 for a stay in November 2012

We stayed in June and Nov 2012. I really liked the cabin! We took our son, daughter in law, granddaughter, and our younger son. They loved having their own bedroom and bathrooms upstairs . We liked having the room downstairs, only a shower down(I like a tub). Very relaxing cabin, I like to cook so we ate a lot of meals @ the cabin. Loved the kitchen and the gas grill out back. I felt the patio with a gas log fire and hot tub was awsome. We have stayed @ three different cabins in Pigeon Forge the other ones had nicer views, but this one had a view. The kk
Ida's playing area was really cool so was the put put and pool. They were also FREE to use! Very clean!!!! Will go back to this cabin again! Great memories :)

Liked best: The cabin was new, clean and very relaxing. Also loved the theater room...when we came home my husband build a room just like it.
Liked least: The bedding, little way from town.

“This cabin was sadly misnamed.”

To begin:We arrived at the resort in the afternoon, and I am extremely thankful we were not pulling in for the first time in the dark. The roads leading to the resort (and to this particular cabin once in the neighborhood especially) are narrow and winding. We have driven through Missouri and Tennessee before, so we are familiar with narrow mountain roads, but a person who had never driven through them could have easily crashed into any of the cabins surrounding An Awesome View while trying to back down the hairpin curve atop which the cabin sits. The cabin is lovely, but the views from this cabin aren't so great comparitively (the area is still beautiful to look at); the upper story balcony, the hot tub, firepit, and long back patio open onto the fronts of the surrounding cabins, so all you get is an eyefull of parked cars and drying shoes. The front view is better, but there isn't a place to sit outside on that side of the house. The cabin across the street had the best view.
The pros:
The kids loved the pool table and the 3 spacious bedrooms. We enjoyed the swimming pool-- moostly at night-- I don't think it ever closes, but the road to the pool is dark and scary to drive on even in the daytime. The theater room was a big hit, as well, and it worked flawlessly every night. Detailed instructions were left which were simple to use, and during the day if we had a problem or question someone came to help right away. The cabin was clean and included most of the things you would need to enjoy your stay, however, keep in mind that cabins do not restock supplies daily like a hotel does, so you will need to buy more toilet paper and detergent to wash towels. We had dishwashing detergent and dishes and a fully appointed kitchen set in the cabin, which was great! The cabin also had plenty of pillows and blankets (and drawer space for about 4 people). The appliances were all of good quality, and we liked the way the front door locked securely with a code. The hot tub and fire pit were in great condition and worked perfectly. The gate into the subdiision was nice and always worked.
The cons: Although the cabin included lots of amenities, the details were extremely cheaply done. For instance, the carpet is so cheap it is slick already on the steep stairs, and each of us slid down them at least once.( We aren't old or infirm, and our youngest child is almost seven.) The "wood" floors are very cheap laminate. They felt like plastic, although, I'm sure they're very durable, they did not look like "luxury meets the mountains". Things like shower curtains and toilet paper holders were very flimsy. There is only one bathtub; the other bathrooms boast only a one piece vinyl shower unit. The beds were made without fitted sheets only flat sheets folded under and another flat sheet on top, and the comforters and bedskirts were so cheap you could see through them. They also didn't fit the beds they were on.Some of the furniture did not feel like it would stand up against much use. There are no closets in this cabin only shelf units with a short rod in the corner of each bedroom. Imagine five people with a weeks worth of clothes each and one of them is a teenage girl and you can see how we ran out of drawer space and shelf space. Also, the wood planks everywhere irritated my daughter's asthma, but she grew accustomed to it by the end of the week. ( This doesn't affect my rating, but I thought it might be helpful to warn parents of children with asthma or severe allergies.) The main con to this cabin is the view, ironically enough. We weren't able to sit out on the balcony and enjoy a mountain view and have a cup of cocoa, because the view was of a parking area and people all around could have just stared right at us. The unique location of this cabin would make it the only one with this problem, I think. This resort is also less convenient to the Parkway than most hotel or condo options(we've stayed at a condo about 2 minutes off Parkway before ); it took about 15 minutes to get to the Parkway from the cabin, and then we were only at the very beginning of it. With the traffic the way it was the week we were in PF, those extra twenty minutes made a big difference in the way we had to plan our outings. However, the Parkway is ugly and I can see how being far from it is a plus for some people. There were also scorpions on the bottom floo of the cabinr, a centipede, and a few giant spiders, but it is in the wildeness after all. The wi-fi only worked on the upper floor.
We never got a chance to try the golf area or the trails around the cabin, so I can't comment on those things. There were some signs pointing to them, but not a lot of informationavailable regarding specifics like distances of the trails, if volleyballs were provided, etc.
Overall, I would rate this cabin GOOD, but since that isn't an option, I will be generous and dub it VERY GOOD.I would recommend Park Side Resort to a friend, but I would recommend they pick a cabin on the other side of the street, if possible.
