“Not worth the $”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2008

We booked a jacuzzi room at $174 a night and couldn't use the in-room jacuzzi the first night due to the drain plug being missing. Maintenance staff tried to find one to fit for a couple of hours, returning several times with different ones to try, and finally did but by then it was 10pm and time for our young daughter to go to bed. She had wanted to take her bath in the tub. We never received an apology of any kind from the hotel staff and no one followed up with us on the matter. The staff seemed to do the minimum required for the job, and no more.

The hotel's breakfast was mainly pastries, cereal, packets of grits and warm biscuits with white gravy both mornings we were there. I was hoping for a little variation day-to-day but was disappointed. We would have liked some sausage, eggs or protein of some kind, there was none. Good coffee though!

Our room on the third floor overlooked the river and it was beautiful and peaceful on the balcony, both day and night. We found the room to be quiet for sleeping which was nice.

The heated pools and lazy river were the saving grace of our stay! The first day there were lots of dead bugs floating on the water in the outdoor pool but by the second day of our stay they were gone and we noticed an employee skimming the pool for debris. The outdoor pool even has a diving board which was a lot of fun as you don't see them at hotels much anymore.

As of now we're undecided if we'd stay at Music Road hotel next year. If we do, it will be in their cheapest room and only because of the pools.

The Music Road Hotel is the nicest hotel we have stayed in at PF or anywhere we have visited. It is very luxurious, spacious and very clean. For the money and size of room, the MRH is a great value, especially during the week or if you can get a discount.

Our room had an in room jacuzzi which was nice, we didn't have to go back down to the pool area to relax.

The huge balconies in the rear of the hotel overlook the mountains and a creek teeming with activity.

Lots of free parking in front of the hotel, keep in mind they rope some areas off for special events but, there is still plenty of parking available.

They have a nice included breakfast but, could have used a fresh waffle maker and some hard boiled eggs or other meat.

There is a stop light about a block away which allows you to access the Parkway and the next light towards PF allows you to access Teaster Lane which is the best way to avoid the crowded Parkway during hot rod weekends or rush hours.

We will definitely try to stay there again next visit if a room is available.

  • Liked — The luxurious size and decor of the room, the inroom jacuzzi, the views from the balcony
  • Disliked — For some reason the hotel shut the A/C off at 9 am while we were still in the room, luckily we were ready to check out, even though, check out time was 11 am.

This has to be the best hotel in Pigeon Forge! We stayed there for 3 days and didn't want to leave. In fact, we had planned to do more sightseeing, but enjoyed the hotel so much that we spent much more time there than we had originally planned. I don't think you could find a friendly or more helpful staff anywhere. We asked for a menu for a local restaurant and they didn't have one, but they contacted the restaurant and had them fax one to us. We needed additional towels in our room and we got them within ten minutes (or less) of our request and then the front desk called a few minutes later to be certain we had received the towels. Our room was tastefully decorated, huge, immaculate and the beds were awesome. The pillows were great and we had lots of them! It was really nice to have the microwave and refrigerator, and we loved having the balcony and literally spent hours sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view. The hotel is very conveniently located and was quite easy to find. The continental breakfast was delicious! We especially enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. We found the folks that staffed the breakfast very accomodating and also noticed that they made sure that every guest was served before they started clearing the food. The kids adored the pool and outdoor waterpark. We had originally planned to go to a waterpark, but the kids were totally happy with the one at the hotel and didn't want to go anywhere else. The indoor pool was delightful and after a long, full day of seeing the sights, we appreciated our dip in the pool at midnight and soaking in the hot tub. The hotel even offers free ice to fill your coolers and has a guest laundry where you can do your wash! How nice it was to leave with clean clothes! I don't know why anyone would want to stay anywhere else in Pigeon Forge. I just don't think you get better than this hotel! We will definitely come again and will highly recommend the Music Road Hotel to anyone going to Pigeon Forge!

Based on positive reviews on TripAdvisor, we booked at this hotel. I was a little nervous because this is not part of a hotel chain, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We wanted to stay at the Music Road Inn but a Family Suite room was only available at the Hotel. Our room was HUGE with a wrap around balcony, refrigerator, dining/bar area. The Internet (corded) did not work in our room and there was no Wi-Fi in our room but by stepping out on the balcony there was access to the HOliday Inn Express' Wi-Fi, so we used that. We also could use the HIE Wi-Fi at the pool.
The kids loved the pool and mini waterpark. The slide was a huge hit. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. There was no business center which was a problem since we wanted to print something. The hotel staff tried to help but everything is hard wired into the hotel system so we were unable to access any printer. The breakfast was fantastic - cereal, biscuits and gravy, Krispy Kreme donuts, etc. we got down to breakfast close to check out time and it was packed but the staff happily refilled everything until the last guest was served. We requested late check out but could only get the time extended by 30 minutes, which was all the time we needed. Elevators were slow close to check out time, but we were only on the 3rd floor so we took the stairs. Great overall experience and would stay here again and again.

We stayed on the 2nd floor with a balcony view of the river, it was beautiful and so nice to sit out on and have your morning coffee! Our room was very large, and clean, and the beds were so comfortable! I loved the fact that the indoor pool was open 24 hours a day. The staff was so helpful and very friendly. The only small problem we had was the parking. We got back to the hotel late Friday night, and had to drive around a few times to find a spot, other than that it was excellent and I will definitely stay again!

We had stayed at this hotel 7 years ago--our room at that time was beautiful and very clean. We like this hotel because they have a very nice heated pool with a slide and also have a lazy river. Location is great. But this time we stayed for 6 nights and were very disappointed. As the week went on our room became dustier and dirtier. One day we had no maid service at all, other days she was in and out in 5 minutes. There was garbage under the bathroom sink when we arrived and it stayed there all week. The hotel is not being kept up--our microwave was broken, hairdryer broken, carpeting filthy, By our 5th day you could write your name in the dust on the TV and dresser. Bathroom was not cleaned the entire week. And the breakfast is not what it used to be. One day they were even out of coffee. Pool was still very nice, although they have eliminated the adults only pool.

Music Road Hotel takes such pride in its cleanliness which is why so many of our guest compliment us on it. It is so very unfortunate and unusual that a situation like this would have occured. Management has a housekeeping training program, inspection program and a management room review program that was established this past July.

Additionally, we are proud to announce that we are currently rennovating all 163 hotel rooms which will be complete by early Spring.

We hope that we'll be given an opportunity to show you how much we value your business.

This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. My first review was glowing, and although I would still recommend this hotel, this 2nd trip was a slightly mixed bag.
Pros:
1. The river view rooms are the way to go, gorgeous view of the river.
2. The rooms are very spacious.
3. The hotel is very clean.
4. Majority of the staff very friendly and helpful.

Cons:
1. We had made an earlier request for 1st floor river view room, the check in clerk was not very friendly, nor was she very apologetic that they could not accomodate our request.
2. Fridge in the room very noisy. Could unplug if you don't need it.
3. On 3rd floor room, level with flowers on the trees and there were many bumblebees. Good thing to keep in mind if you are allergic during the flowering season.
4. Arcade mainly for older children--there were 3-4 video games with guns--the rifle in the holster type--a bit of overkill, need more variety for younger children as well--but my boys loved the air hockey.

So on the whole, this is still our favorite hotel in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area--we've stayed at Christmas Place Inn, Music Road Inn, and Bear Creek in Gatlinburg, and overall, we would pick this hotel over the others.

  • Liked — spacious rooms, comfortable beds
  • Disliked — loud fridge, not so friendly check in
