We stayed at this Hotel for our July 2013, family Summer vacation, in Pigeon Forge, TN. The Hotel Staff was very friendly and eager to please all guests. The Hotel is in good condition and very clean, and the Housekeeping Staff is very accommodating in coming to clean your room at a time that works out best for you, if you let them know in advance. Although Housekeeping is not on the premises 24 hours, they work up until 6:00pm everyday, but after hours the Hotel has the Maintenance Crew take over any special needs that are left over from Housekeeping. The Hotel was very generous on giving out plenty of Towels to the guest, as many as you need and at any time of the day, which was terrific for us, due to all the swimming and showering we had to do.
The Hotel has a nice indoor pool with a hot tub, and a very nice little water park outside, with a lazy river and tubes, and a small curl water slide for having fun, and they have plenty of Towels at the Pool for Guests. The outdoor pool has a snack bar as well. My kids wished the slides were a bit bigger with the curls than they were, but it was okay. The Bathroom was excellent with having two sinks, and a nice linen closet with a few big shelves for storing your own personal things.
The Hotel gives a free complimentary breakfast every morning (6am-10am), they have some scrambled eggs, and bacon, and fruit, and a bit of small pastry/bagels, yogurt, coffee, and a lot of people seemed to go to the free breakfast, but although I liked the Hotel, I did not care for the taste of the free breakfast. It was nice that the rooms have microwaves and mini refrigerators in their Family Suites, and we were able to buy some groceries nearby (Walmart) and make our own breakfast each day, and it was terrific. You do get a Coffee Maker and complimentary Coffee in your Room. There are ice and beverage vending machines on each floor by the elevators. The Hotel also has two floors that have self-service Laundry (one washer & one dryer), and no detergent vending machines, and no folding table in the Room, but a bench for sitting is provided.
The Hotel has a Sister Hotel directly across the Street, and you can use the facilities in either if you are a guest of either (pools, arcade room, small exercise room is only in the Music Road Inn). Both Hotels have lovely little sitting areas in the Lobby, with a very small gift shop, and both the Hotels are very clean, even the stairwell is very clean, and I took a picture of the stairwell because it was unusually spotless. There is plenty of Parking, and you can park at either Hotel (Music Road Hotel or Music Road Inn). The Music Road Hotel does have a connecting Convention Center as well, but we did not go there. The Hotel has a view of the Little Pigeon River on one side, and depending on where your Room is you will have this as your room view. We stayed in Room 327 (Music Road Hotel), and our view was the Little Pigeon River on one side view, and the other was of the town, we wished we were up higher to see the Mountains. The other Hotel (Music Road Inn, across the street) does have a Cemetary in view, and I would assume that a guest may have that as a view in that particular Hotel, we were in the other one across the Street. The higher the floor your on, the better the view.
This Hotel (both of them) are very conveniently located within walking distance to many places to eat, even a huge buffet place, and Ruby Tuesdays Restaurant is on the same block, at the corner of the Hotel. The Hotel is also within walking distance to a few attractions as well, and the Trolley stops right in front of the Hotel, and goes all over to all the attractions. You can also take a short drive to Sevierville, TN, and Gatlingburg, TN is only a 15 min. drive through some of the Smokey Mountain. Cherokee, NC (which belongs to the Cherokee American Indian) is about 1 hours drive through the Smokey Mountain (Route 441, a main road), where you can see many scenic views and be up 5,000 feet, spectacular views you will certainly see. Be sure if you do go into the Smokey Mountains that you are with a full tank of gas, as there are no gas stations, nor restaurants in this Park, and it is best to travel in the day time hours, and stay on the main road, unless you are very familiar with this great National Park, because you can get lost there for sure, if you wonder without knowing where you are going, but it is absolutely breath takingly beautiful.
In any event, the Music Road Hotel, is a nice, clean and great location to get to all the things you would want to see in the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and surrounding area of attractions. We had a Family Suite, and it was spacious and comfortable and had a very very nice long and private patio, with lots of chairs to sit out. The beds were comfortable, but the pull out sleeper sofa mattress is then and you can feel the wires. We bought (at Walmart) a full size foam mattress cover, for about $10.00, for the sleeper sofa, and that made it very comfortable. We controlled our own Air Conditioning as well. There are no safes in the rooms and none were noted about being offered in the Hotel. There was no Valet Service for anything (parking or bags), all are self-serve, they have luggage carts and two elevators.
Although, it is not necessary, but it would be even much nicer if the Hotel did have an actual Restaurant, in order to be capable of ordering from right there or eat right there at the Hotel. The Free Breakfast area would be a lovely spot to have a real Restaurant. Also, the Music Road Hotel does not have an Exercise Room, but you can use the one across the street at the other Hotel they own (Music Road INN). The design of the Hotel, I think could handle such renovations, which would make it gain more "stars" as being even better than it is.
We did enjoy our stay with the Music Road Hotel and would stay there again, and we also enjoyed using the facilities at their Sister Hotel across the street, at the Music Road INN. I took some photos so be sure to see them.
We had Room 327, which was too low of a floor, and the view we had was the Little Pigeon River on on...
