I have been to the Dixie Stampede four times in the last two years. There are some SERIOUS issues with the show and pre-show nowadays. For starters, the "Carriage Room" band used to be Horseplay, one of the best bluegrass bands I've ever seen live... now, they have "Wild Oats," which is just a sub-par band as far as performance AND comedy are concerned.
Next up is the show. My main gripes with the show is that the content has NEVER changed, making repeat visits pointless. Every joke, every routine, everything is done in the same order, every show, with no variation. It would be okay if it were that way for a year or so, then had some changes the next year... but apart from the buffalo stampede at the very beginning, the show is the EXACT SAME as the one I saw for the first time three years ago!
More gripes: the singers are all lipsynching... the servers are often overly chatty and annoying... and the video tribute at the end of the show with Dolly just SCREAMS tackiness (many times before and after the show, Dolly is propped up as if she is the greatest person alive, taking away from the show's entertainment value, I believe).
If you're going to go, just go once. You'll see everything you'll EVER see in one visit!
