My husband and I stayed in this hotel while he was traveling to oak ridge for business.
Although I had read previous reviews saying this hotel was clean, our room needed some work. The floor in the room turned my feet black. Also the coffee maker and the tray it was on were visibly sticky. But the worst part was the shower drain and the area around it. The shower drain was disgusting (see picture) and the wall by it had mold growing in the grout.
The other main problem we had was with the air conditioner and the customer service. When we arrived in our room the thermostat said 85 degrees. We turned it down all the way and let it run for a couple of hours but the room never cooled down. We notified the front desk and were basically told too bad, they couldn’t do anything. We asked for a new room and were told the hotel was full, which I found hard to believe because I never saw more than 15 cars in the parking lot. They didn’t even offer to send maintenance to look at it even though we were staying there for two nights. After some button mashing and resetting, we were able to get it to kick on, and it worked fine for the rest of our stay.
The wi-fi was kind of slow, which wasn’t a big problem but if I were staying there for business, which I think a lot of people do, I would have been annoyed.
Another thing that annoyed me was for some reason, our room didn’t have a window that looked outside, but rather it faced the indoor pool (see picture). So for our stay we had a view of an empty pool and barely any sunlight. I imagine if anyone actually had used the pool we would have been able to hear them and they could have seen right into our room.
One thing I really liked about the hotel was the free breakfast they offered. The breakfast wasn’t large, but they had a lot of variety like biscuits, eggs and bacon, and a waffle maker, as well as the standards like bagels and cereal. Another plus was the bed- we were able to get a king and it was very comfortable. However, these two things don't really cancel out the others and in the future we will seek other lodging in the area.
