“Beautiful hotel, views questionable, normal upper-level hotel annoyances”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

We stayed for one night while visiting Nashville.

It's a beautiful hotel. I love that they made the hotel out of an old train station. It's enjoyable to just look at the lobby.

The location is very good. It's an easy walk (less than .5 mile) to all of the downtown action. If you don't feel like walking, the free Music City Circuit (bus) has a stop pretty much right outside the hotel. We didn't take advantage of that, but it was a consideration when we selected the hotel.

The room is spacious, and very nicely furnished/decorated.

The downside:
1. The layout of the hotel is a little strange since it's an old train station. The lobby (street-level) is on the 3rd floor. Our room was on the 2nd floor. From our window, we looked down (we couldn't look straight out as the view was blocked) onto some gravel. That was all we could see.
2. I don't understand why any upper-level hotel charges for wireless internet. But, this one did as well. You could pay $49/night at a Super 8 and get free wifi, but not when you spend $300/nt for a room at a place like this. Ridiculous.

Room Tip: You have to get a room above the 2nd floor...if possible. There is also some (slight) train noise...

Train buff will love this train station turned gorgeous hotel! Rooms are unique! Only stayed one night but everything was high quality and a must stay place, loved it! Bar does close pretty early for downtown...

Room Tip: Not near elevators, they are noisy

We stayed here on a spur of the moment weekend getaway to Nashville. It is not your cookie cutter Marriott property. It is like stepping back to the turn of the century inside. It is decorated in a beautiful art deco style. It is within walking distance to the tourist spots on Broadway one way, and the "Gulch" restaurant area the other way. Be prepared to pay $26 a day for valet parking. If you self park at $15.00 a day, you can end up paying more if you come and go.

Room Tip: Get a room above the 4th floor, or you may have a view of a wall.

We stayed at this beautiful, historic hotel in late August 2012 on a road trip exploring Georgia and Tennessee. Prior to our stay, we did a lot of Nashville hotel research and knew hands down that we had to experience staying at this National historic landmark. Everything from the Romanesque architecture, grand entrance and lobby of the Union Station made us feel like we were entering into an earlier era. We cannot say enough about the wonderful staff and service at this hotel; we had several requests and they were taken care of very promptly. After a fun evening out in Music City, we were able to walk back to the hotel since it is so close by. We slept very well as the bed and down comforters were SO comfortable! The next morning, we enjoyed a tasty brunch at the hotel restaurant, Prime 108, which was superb. I had a veggie omelet and my husband enjoyed the steak and eggs dish. Both plates were excellent! I would highly recommend staying at this hotel to experience staying at the restored 19th century railroad station.Thank you to the wonderful staff for helping us make this an incredible stay.

Room Tip: If you can, I'd highly recommend an upgraded suite. Prior to arrival, we booked a standard suite...

The hotel looks amazing, it is really pretty and entering the reception area takes your breath away. It's a shame the same can't be said for the rooms! No comfy chairs. no fridge (the temperature outside was 93F) the air-con was very noisy. The bed was the least comfortable I have slept in this trip. I ironed a few item of clothing whilst there, the iron spewed out rusty water onto a shirt and pair of shorts. The hotel grudgingly offered to clean them at their expense and said they would change the iron!!!!! Breakfast menu was not very interesting and at $18.95 we decided to eat elsewhere. When we arrived we found out they did valet parking at $25+tax per day, there is no cheap parking near the hotel. If you are visiting Nashville, stay somewhere else and walk to Union Station and have a look at the inside and outside for free!!!!

Room Tip: Try Holiday Inn or the Rennaisance

The Hotel is beautiful. Were only in Nashville for one night, so we wanted to make it memorable. The staff suggested some wonderful spots for dinner and live entertainment. We such a good time that I want to come back just to stay in Nashville! The hotel has very comfortable beds and linens and was very clean, and a great location for night life. Hope to come back soon!

This is one of the nicest hotels I've stayed at in a long time. The rooms were lovely, the restaurant was terrific and the lobby is truly magnificent! This is a former train station that has been turned into a very interesting and fun hotel. There are quite literally hundreds of stained glass windows that date back a very long time but the ceiling in the lobby is absolutely stunning. As a art lover, I simply marveled at the colors, pattern and complexity of the arched stained glass ceiling that totally covered the lobby. The windows in the restaurant were also amazing. It was also fun to see all of the long distance trains that converge here in Nashville. Be sure to check out the very special painting in the restaurant.

This was a great hotel with wonderful concierge service and exceptional service in general. I would highly recommend this hotel without any qualms whatsoever. It is quite simply a wonderful place to stay! I wish we could have spent more than a few days here in Nashville.

Room Tip: We had 2 rooms, both on upper floors. They were each very different and quite lovely.
