“Beautiful historic buidling with easy walk to downtown”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 4, 2012

Stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. Beautiful historic building that is well maintained. Rooms and bathrooms are smaller like most older hotels, but comfortable. Air conditioning maintained cool temperatures during very hot weather. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lots of restaturants and bars all within a 15 minute walk. Only criticism is that the valet attendants were not well versed in giving driving directions within Nashville.

The room with the high ceilings (think 20') earned an "oh wow" upon arrival - the pictures on the site are good representation. Just remember that former train station does mean that there are still train tracks just outside. Parking is a bit of a pain, but that's true of Nashville in general. The Frist is just across the parking lot. There is a nice cafe inside. The Flying Saucer is next door with pub grub, 90s music, and tons of beer. Didn't eat in hotel, did have a drink in the cool bar - a bit pricey. Elevators are quite slow - but they are 100 years old. I did have to ask to be helped rather than greeted by the front desk upon arrival. They did have an event in the lobby that day, so assume they were overstressed. But not the usual reception am used to.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the North side to be on the opposite side of the train tracks.

For a memorable travel experience, you must stay at this hotel. We recently spent two nights at Union Station and didn't want to leave. Our 5th floor room was very comfortable, spacious and overlooked the absolutely beautiful lobby, which has a stained glass, barrel vaulted ceiling high above the lobby. I understand each room is different so may want to call the hotel directly to find the perfect room before making reservations. Every member of the staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Many thanks to Scott for his help in room reservations and to Greg for giving us a history of the hotel. For a step back in time in a beautiful and relaxing setting, be sure to check out this hotel.

Beautiful property. Our room was small, but rather quiet. Ask for a room that does not face the train tracks. Staff was helpful, but the front desk staff was limited. Never did get refrigerator that was promised, said they would get help with my bags, but never did. The bed was so comfortable and the shower was perfect. Within walking distance to downtown events.

What a wonderful place to stay. I have often admired this hotel on trips to Nashville, but this was the first time I had the opportunity to stay. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. Our king room was a little small, but not in any way cramped. I would definitely stay again.

We were in town to attend the Bachanalia event at the nearby Christ Church Cathedral. The building is historic, unique and the lobby is truly amazing. We had a corner room which was quite grand in scale - as are the room and restaurant prices (but consistent with other upscale offerings in Nashville).
The riverwalk and pubs are a good 10 block hike downhill. We were delighted to find the Flying Saucer Draught Emporium just a block away and enjoyed fine beers (root and regular) on their beautiful terrace before the performances.
As our the Bachanalia went from 5-11 PM - it was great to have our lodging a block away and I am glad we got to experience the elegance, history and beauty of the Union Station.
