“Great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2007

We recently spent five nights at the hotel while attending the CMA Music Fest. The location can't be beat for attending all the events of the festival. Rooms weren't large, but adequate with very comfortable beds. Elevators were slow, especially at peak times. We ate at the restaurant twice. Breakfast buffet was good. Dinner was good, but a little pricey considering you didn't even get a salad with your steak dinner. We had to wait 15 minutes to get in restaurant, even though it was less than half full! We ordered room service late one night, and were pleased with both the timeliness and quality of food. Room was clean and hotel personnel were friendly.

My husband and I have stayed here about four times in the last two years. The guest rooms need to be updated. The rooms were clean (which is most important to us) but are just too pricey @ $200. plus a night for a weekend getaway. The Commerce St. Grille on the first floor serves a consistently good breakfast buffet. All of the staff are helpful but the valet staff out front treat you like royalty. This is extremely important since these are the first staff that guests come in contact with. They set the mood for the entire stay. It seems they are opening your car door for you before you even get your seatbelt off and, don't even reach for the hotel door because they will not let you open it for yourself. I'm not kidding. This is the type of service that makes you want to return again even if the rooms are just above average. As a matter of fact, I was at a conference recently but couldn't get a room here because it was sold out. I had to stop by the hotel to pick up a package and the experience was the same. This hotel has the best valet staff of any hotel I've ever stayed at. SUPERB!

The Renaissance is a very nice downtown hotel property in a great location. It is well situated to be in easy walking distance of many downtown attractions. All of the rooms are nice and appear to have been recently updated, but I really like the end rooms (floor number + 00) since they have a very large bath area and extra windows. My business associates and I thought that the inhouse restaurant and room service offered good food. I would definitely stay here again.

This is a nice place, but not even close to being worth the price. $239/ night and they charge you for Internet access on top of that! Walkable to the Broadway “strip”. You have to pay for parking, either valet or at the lot across the street. The elevators were jammed in the mornings. I waited 15 minutes for one before I gave up and took the stairs down. Lucky I was only on the fifth floor.

I took my grandaughters to Nasville to the OpryMills Outlet Mall and we stayed in this hotel. Even though we were early they let us check in and when we asked for an upper floor so my granddaughters could look out; we were given the 22nd floor even though they were expecting to have to turn the water off on the upper floors for repairs for several hours. We were going shopping anyway and we threw in our luggage and left. This subsequently did not happen, however. But the view at night was very special to 2 girls that had never been higher than 2-3 floors!
We ate in the glass atrium and there is a Starbucks there that gave us the donuts they were going to have to throw out because they were too old to sale the next day. The girls had a great breakfast the next morning along with splitting room service breakfast which is typically more expensive but the hotel gladly provided more glasses for milk and extra utensils and plates so we could share.\
The beds were comfortable and the rooms were a comfortable size also. The bathrooms had marble counters etc, but seemed a little Holiday Inn in size and style. All in all, I was pleased.
We had a perfect check out with everything adding up just right and a very cheerful desk attendant invited us back very soon.

On hotel website, Executive Corner Room was described as being on the 24th floor. Was advised, by phone, that 24th floor was closed and only open Monday through Friday. When we checked in we had requested a "high floor" room. Checked into the 15th floor. Is that high, not really. Then we noticed guests going to the 24th floor. Thought it was closed? Check in staff would only give us the 15th floor, even when I made phone calls directly to the hotel, hoping to assure us of a high floor room.

Bed was super comfortable. Room was clean.

The buffet on Sunday morning was absolutely fabulous, as was the wait staff.

Disapointed. Yes. Would I stay there again? Probably not.

Just kind of ticked off about the placement of the room.

Nothing special about this hotel. The bedding was fabulous. It was clean. That's about it. Wasn't a horrible hotel, but wasn't fabulous either. Just ordinary!

Everything you need was within walking distance (which was a plus).

Would or would not stay in this hotel.
