“Nothing special”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2009

Fast, friendly early check-in. I asked for a high floor and got the 23rd, the highest public floor. No problems with the elevators over 4 days. Not impressed with the room, except the view. Reasonably clean, found some stray hairs in the bathroom. The thermostat was 5° off so setting at lowest possible 65° left the room 70° which is warmer than I like. Would have been no problem keeping it warmer though heat doesn't work in the summer in big buildings. TV was great. Didn't pay the high amount for wireless, heard it was pretty slow. Managed to get a signal off a nearby building one day then it was encrypted.

Pool & hot tub fine. Dinner at the main floor restaurant was good. The Stockyard a few miles away was overrated however.

Definitely self park across the street. $6 a day.

This was a decent hotel. The breakfast was good and the beds were comfy. The location was awesome. Just one block from the Sommit Center and the bars on broadway. I enjoyed the fact that at the end of the night it was away from all of the craziness, even though it was only a block. Good place to stay! Definitely don't pay for valet, the parking lot across the street is only $4 per day and the valet charges $26 for the same garage, just do it yourself.

Try to pass this off as a high class hotel, I've stayed in cleaner motels. The staff was friendly and helpful in all departments. Bathroom had hair everywhere. Old bath mats should be thrown away. The clientele is upperclass but I cant believe they stay here. Rooms are tiny. Had to take a cold shower in the morning. Would rate this average if housekeeping actually cleaned the rooms, disgusting.

I stayed here for a week during a work related conference, plus a few extra days to play tourist, and found the hotel just excellent. The room I got was very nice, clean, high up with a view to the city hall, bedding was very comfortable and bathroom was nice. The business facilities were also very good. I would love to visit Nashville again on holiday and would stay at this hotel again. It is perfect location, while I was there I was able to take in a hockey game and check out some of the honkey tonks which are in easy walking distance. I really enjoyed my time in Nashville.

In Nashville for the CMA Festival, and this was our first time staying at the Renaissance Hotel. Warm, friendly, helpful staff from the moment we walked through the doors to checkout. Beautifully decorated king corner room with amazing floor to ceiling windows. Our room overlooked Broadway and the Sommet Center. We left the curtains open the entire time so we could enjoy the view--beautiful at night. Very convenient to everything downtown Nashville has to offer. You can enter the convention center without going outside of the hotel--a big plus. We'll definitely stay at this hotel next time we're in Nashville.

Hotel was very clean and service was great. I was hoping for a better view than what we had. There are floor to ceiling windows but still not much of a view. Very close to the bars on Broadway, 2nd and Church Streets. Great hotel to stay in for a night on the town.

My brother and I were driving across country so we simply needed a convenient place to sleep and rest. However, this hotel was one of our splurges on our road trip.

Positives:
1) VERY nice hotel. Rooms were roomy and beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good as well.
2) Location was excellent. Around the corner is the original Grand Ole Opry (Ryman Auditorium) and the honky tonks on Broadway. Jack's BBQ is excellent for local bbq. All are walking distance. The farmer's market is also walkable but a little more of a hike.
3) The hotel does not have parking but there is a public parking garage across the street (connected by a catwalk) that was $7/day. A steal.

Negatives:
1) The hotel was a little pricey but as mentioned above, this was a splurge. We only had one night and half a day in Nashville so I wanted to stay at a location that was close to it all. This hotel definitely was.
2) WiFi was not free in the rooms and was very expensive. However, it is free on floors 1-3 where the lobby and conference rooms are located.
3) Parking was not free but as mentioned above, parking across the street was a bargain.
