Stayed here for a wedding recently. This hotel is in a great location, walking distance from everything. The lobby is art deco like and there are a multitude of elevators to get you to your room. Check in and check out was simple. The parking attendants were absolutely fantastic about giving directions, finding restaurants, and getting cabs. They even suggested parking across the street for $4 as opposed to $25 for valet parking if we did not need our car frequently. The rooms were standard marriott affair-clean, organized, comfortable and tasteful decorated. The hotel bathroom showers are a little dated but that is my only complaint. For location, conveniance, price and an overall good stay, consider the Renaissance.

I stayed here during a girls' weekend in April and had a wonderful time. It's a beautiful hotel in a perfect location for enjoying the city restaurants, bars and attractions. We were able to walk everywhere. The rooms were really nice and clean and the beds were awesome! Conveniently there is a Starbucks in the lobby as well as full service restaurant. The doormen were very helpful in calling us cabs when necessary and even recommended some restaurants to eat at.

I only have two little complaints- we only had hot water coming out of the sinks in the bathrooms (in all 3 rooms). We didn't bother mentioning it to the front desk, so I can't complain too much! The breakfast buffet in the restaurant was only o.k. and many of the items ran out and did not get refilled. I ended up ordering off the menu, which was delicious, but with juice and coffee added, was more expensive than the buffet, $25 vs. $19 (after tax, before tip).

All in all, I would highly recommend staying at this downtown hotel!!

“Good hotel, slow elevators”

Renaissance Nashville Hotel

Apr 10, 2008

I stayed at the Renaissance Nashville for three nights in January, for a conference. The hotel was nice. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. My biggest complaint is how long the elevators took! I was up on the 20th floor, and frequently had to wait a long time for an elevator (there were 5 or 6 elevators in the lobby, so I am not sure what the problem was). I did enjoy the view my room provided.

I ate in the hotel restaurant for supper twice. The food was good, nothing exceptional, but the service was very good.

The location of the hotel is very central.

All in all, it was a good stay. My room was a good size, and clean. It was just a bit annoying to have long waits for elevators!

“Typical Corporate Hotel”

Typical corporate hotel, convenient to downtown. We were lucky to get a high floor room with a great view, and the bed was very comfortable indeed. Without the view, however, the room would have been quite ordinary.

We were disappointed that just about everything, including in-room internet access, was an extra, but the Starbucks in the reception area was pretty handy, likewise with the two computers offering free internet access adjacent to this.

Self parking is at the library parking lot opposite the hotel and you can walk directly into the hotel via a bridge which houses one of the hotel's bar areas, which is quite pleasant. This wasn't signposted, however, and it was quite confusing trying to find out exactly where you were allowed to park. Parking was only $4 per day, however, so that was very reasonable.

“Very Disappointed”

Renaissance Nashville Hotel

I was extremely disappointed with this hotel. It has a great location. It's within a block of Legend's, Ryman, Tootsies and the Sommet Center. It's about 2 1/2 blocks from the TPAC. I chose it for the location since we were going to the Sommet to see Brad Paisley then to the TPAC to see Spamalot. I had received the government rate for our stay and had contacted JoAnne, the assistant manager about getting extra towels, extra pillows and about parking. She informed me that you can park directly across the street on weekdays for $6 every time you leave or $4 every time you leave on weekends or you can valet park for $23 a day. The parking garage has a walkway that is connected to the bar. We chose to park our own car. When I went to check in, the young man behind the counter stated that he couldn't process my Bonus Bucks certificate at check in like he was supposed to because he was afraid with the convention that was also there that someone would lose it. He didn't inform me that none of my requests would be honored.

We arrived to our room and it was not the room we had requested. I called down to the desk and was told since I was at a low rate that it wouldn't be honored over people that were paying more. Then I asked about the extra towels and extra pillows. He informed me that they were busy and would get it to it when they got to it. Well they never got it to in the 3 nights we were there. We went to the concert and then came back to order room service. Room service was ok. There was a card on the tray to call when completed so they could pick up the dishes. The tray was still outside of our door at 10 the next morning. Housekeeping didn't take out our trash the next day and didn't clean our tub because there was pink liquid soap stain still on the shower wall. They didn't change the sheets on the bed because one of my friends cut her leg shaving and accidently got a spot of blood on the sheets. It wasn't changed the whole time we were there. At checkout they tried to charge us for valet parking and said they honored the Bonus Bucks certificate. However, when I got back 3 days later saw where they had not. I called them and Tonya promptly credited my account.

I stay in Marriotts all the time and just expected more out of the Renaissance. Their service leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure I could stay here again but with the great location I might.
