Stayed here for a conference when the designated conference hotel downtown filled. It is definitely not a great property. The grounds and lobby are fine, lovely even, but the rooms and service are sub-par. When I checked into my room I found candy wrappers under the bedside table (in plain sight) and my colleague found clothes tags left on the floor in her room by the previous guest. The bathroom was in a pretty sad state (rust stains, hastily patched damage to the tub, a disgusting and lifting no-slip mat). Another perplexing thing: The beds have feather comforters, but no duvet covers on them? Which leads me to believe that they either ARE NOT washing them OR they're just chucking them in the wash (which might explain their worn-out appearance.) Comforters on both beds had visible stains, made more obvious because they were white...
Housekeeping did nothing more than make my bed and take away the one towel over the bar- other items such as litter, clearly dirty handtowels left by the sink, etc. were left. Only one trashcan was emptied and no additional toiletries were left. Bathroom counters were not wiped.
The restaurant and bar are okay- breakfast buffet is ample but not of high quality (definitely not worth the $10.95 price tag.) Biscuits and gravy were gummy and bland. Dining room itself shows it's age with thread-bare chairs.
The few pros: Bed was comfortable. Pool appeared to be in good repair. The giftshop is stocked with necessities, including allergy meds (needed!)
I can forgive a lot of wear in a hotel if I can tell they've made an effort to keep things clean, but this is just not the case at the Millennium Maxwell House. The entire property is need of upgrade and the cleaning and housekeeping staff is inattentive or just plain don't care. The public areas are kept just attractive enough to make sure your money is down before you see the not-so-great rooms. Also, there are slip locks (like those old fashioned chains, but solid metal, but no deadbolts. As a woman traveling alone I found this concerning. Location is terrible (okay part of town, far out from anything good.) There have to be better options for the same price in Nashville.
