“Great hotel, great downtown location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2009

I stay at this hotel every six months, and I figured it's high time I pass my opinions on to users of Trip Advisor. This hotel is located at the West End of downtown Nashville, very close to the Vanderbilt Campus. Service is always good, and since the hotel was remodeled (that was completed within the past year) the rooms and facilities are excellent. Plenty of parking is available too. Free breakfast for Priority Club members (platinum members at least from my experience) is nice. They have a made to order omelet station as part of that breakfast.

The one drawback to this hotel is that it is RIGHT next to Vanderbilt's football stadium. If you want to stay here, and there's a game scheduled for that Saturday, it can be tough to get a reservation as you get closer to the weekend. The visiting team's fans start arriving on Thursday.

I've stayed at a few hotels in the area and this Holiday Inn is a great value. The hotel was recently renovated and it looks great! The hotel is conveniently located next to Vanderbilt University and many guests are there for a Vandy event.. I would recommend getting the "breakfast included" option as the buffet breakfast offers many choices. Parking is free..a rarity nowadays and the hotel also has a free shuttle to surrounding areas.

Great service, very nicely renovated, great amenities!! A total bargain. I would not stay anywhere else in Nashville. A great location with some of the best restaurants in Nashville just 2-3 blocks away - You can walk to about 5 or 6 of them. Only about a 10 minute drive to downtown and it's alot less touristy. Directly accross the street from Centenial park. We even had a gorgeous view of the Partenon. And Vanderbilt is in the backyard. Great free parking lot, a pool and a really decent fitness room are a few more of the great eamenities. I can't say enough nice things about this hotel. We have stayed in other Holiday Inns and this one was much better. We were really pleasantly surprised.

I stay here often and these folks are on top of their game. After traveling all across the country and staying at various hotels , you will find these folks got their game on. From staff to amenities, location , restaurant bar and free live music nightly in the club. You won't find a more affordable and better place to stay in Nashville Bar None.

I've stayed at this hotel for the past 3 years, and it has gotten better ever since my first stay. The improvements they've made have really paid off to make my experience there more enjoyable. Parking is free, they have a free shuttle within a 3 mile radius. The shuttle is one of the best features about this place, you can get down to music row or Broadway and back without a problem. It goes till 11pm, so you have some time for dinner and a drink or two without being rushed. Breakfast is a good selection of buffet or ala carte'. Rooms a big and clean, never been in a dirty room here. They have a shoe shine service in the lobby, and I have never gotten a better shine than there.

My wife and I have stayed in this hotel in the recent past but were disappointed on this visit.

Pros: 1) Very well located: on West End, in front of Vanderbilt University, and across from Centennial Park. 2) Gratis high speed internet. 3) plenty of outdoor parking (w/o charge).

Cons: 1) mattress (a king) was lumpy and uncomfortable, one of the greatest sins a hotel can commit 2) breakfast buffet was mediocre at best: the food (esp. the eggs) was cold to lukewarm; the coffee, bitter.

General comment. The staff was courteous and professional, with the exception that the young lady at the desk forgot to give us our breakfast buffet coupons when we checked in. The hotel has undergone a redecorating, but oddly, not for the better: the lobby and the dining area have been downgraded (!?) in decor since our last stay, a year or two ago. They now look cheap and unappealing.

West End in Nashville in the immediate vicinity now has a number of other hotels of good repute, and my wife and I shall try one of these in the future.

We have stayed at this property a few times and will continue to return. The location is perfect for doing anything on Vanderbilt's campus, plus there are lots of great eateries and activities nearby. The renovation is a huge plus, the check-in was easy and pleasant, the free breakfast (we were given coupons at check-in) was very good, and our room was spacious with a nice view. The only downside for this visit was the quality of the linens and the bathroom. The sheets were thin although the comforter and pillows were a bit better. The bathroom was small and needed a good cleaning of the mold in the corners of the tub. If these 2 things were corrected, this hotel would be one of the top ones in the downtown/West End area of Nashville. So much positive has been done so far with this hotel...just step it up one more notch!
