“Great dinner and drinks at The Standard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Located in the Smith House. Dining rooms are cozy and lend themselves to relaxed dining and conversation. Food is excellent, prepared and presented well. Staff is knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. $150 tab for two included before dinner drinks, wine with dinner, and a 20% tip.

“A rare gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2014

If you were not looking for The Standard, it would be easy to overlook the neighborhood. The restaurant itself is beautiful from the moment you see the entrance. Built in the 1840s and formerly used as a boarding house, it is a delight to take a lingering walk through.

I enjoyed a starter of green tomatoes and followed with the best sea bass I've tasted. Coffee and Jack Daniels cheesecake topped it off. Service was impeccable. While jacket and tie are not strictly required, men will want to wear them here and women will likewise want to wear something as nice as the surroundings. My wife and I enjoyed the experience and will surely return our next time in Nashville.

“Southern Charm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

In January, after leaving 40 below zero Chicago we spent a delightful break in our long trip south at The Standard at the Smith House. We wanted to try something off the beaten path and this 1800's restored Victorian home was just the ticket.

We made reservations with Billy, the Maitre'D, who welcomed us warmly and escorted us to one of the small dining rooms where we proceeded to enjoy a wonderful meal. Our waiter was very attentive, the food was excellent, especially the Shrimp and Grits!

The room was very cozy and beautifully decorated in period pieces, and while the tables were beautifully spaced, we ended up chatting with a birthday party next to us and a couple from Australia , who were on their honeymoon. A thoroughly lovely evening!

If you want a break from the 'honky tonk' that comprises so much of Nashville, this is a lovely respite.

“If I could give Atmospere and Service a 6.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2014

Upon arriving, we were greeted with, "Hello, I am xxxx--what is your name. Come on in. We have a table waiting for you!" The rest of the service was just as friendly with intellegent and honest descriptions of the food (and a full tour of the mansion). The food was very good. The highlight was the fresh, homemade, sourdough french bread. NOT to say the bread was the only good thing. But the bread was memorable. We had crab soup, capri salad, caesar salad, anteloupe, and pork loin. It was ALL good. We will be back A LOT!

“6 stars!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2014

Absolutely amazing food and service in a beautiful atmosphere. The building and decor is fabulous. We wanted our first "fancy" meal out while visiting the USA on our honeymoon. This was perfect. We had the standard filet and the chicken, both cooked and seasoned to perfection. The desserts were also incredible, never had anything quite like the half baked cookie before. The unoaked Chardonnay was also fantastic. Cannot rate it highly enough. Only on town for 2 days and sorely tempted to go back tonight.
