“Nice, clean hotel in good location, however...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2013

Our room was very nice, clean and spacious and the people at the front desk were very nice and efficient. However, we had no chairs on the balcony that we paid extra for and even after asking for some, we never got them. Also, there are no towel racks in the bathroom or by the sink to hang towels to dry or to use again. Very annoying to have a hand towel on the small vanity top getting wet and dirty and taking up much needed space. The location was excellent - right across the street from the Country Music Hall of Fame, very close to the Ryman Auditorium and Broadway where all the bars and fun shops are. But the walls are paper thin and we could hear every door near us opening and closing. I thought it was our door and jumped to see who was coming in. We could also hear all of the street noise and the trains that come through town in what seemed like every 15 - 30 min. Overall it was a very nice hotel, but definitely needs some soundproofing and some towel racks. I also recommended to the hotel that they get ADA height toilets.

If you want a great hotel within walking distance to the Hall of Fame, Ryman Auditorium and lots of bars and restaurants, this is it. The staff was great, the room was clean and nicely appointed, the garage was easy to use and well lit, lots of choices on the breakfast bar, etc., etc. Would definitely stay here again!

I was very dissatisfied and disappointed with my experience at this property. The reception staff were not helpful, professional or courteous. I was assigned a room which was dark and had a foul odor. I requested another room and was made to feel like I was a bother. I usually like staying at Hampton Inn's but I would definitely not stay at this property again...even though it is in a great location.

My family recently stayed at the Hampton inn and suites in downtown Nashville. I was hesitant at first to book here because of couple of bad reviews but we chose this hotel in the end. It was a great choice. The service was very good from the valet attendants to the front desk people- all were great. We were given a suite which ended up costing less that a regular room with two queen beds. The suite worked out great for my husband and I and two young kids. The biggest plus for this hotel is its location. We were within walking distance to great restaurants, the arena for ice hockey, just about everything. It was wonderful especially with two small kids. The breakfast was okay- not going to complain because for being complimentary it was just fine. The parking attendants were a wealth of information for restaurants. The rooms were comfortable and clean. My only problem with this hotel is that at night you do hear a lot of sirens. Noise proof windows would be great. No one else in my family was bothered by it- I am the only light sleeper. But overall would stay here again.

The room was clean and nice. Overall we liked our stay here and would stay here again. I took the megabus in to meet my family there and it was very convenient to that stop.

One thing that would be nice for pedestrians is signs indicating where the one entrance available at night. I was walking to the hotel having never been there before and what appeared to be the main entrance was locked with a sign to use main doors but no indication of where to go. I almost entirely circled the hotel before finding the lobby door. A simple sign saying it was to the left would have saved me a lap around the building and backtracking.

We chose this hotel for our 4 night stay in Nashville due to its proximity to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy enough, and our room seemed clean and comfortable and nicely appointed with a sofa and desk with lots of outlets for chargers, etc. We did have a couple issues with our room and location.

We were facing 4th Avenue, directly across the street from the service entrances for the newly built Omni Hotel. All hours of the day and night big semi trucks and garbage trucks came and went...with their beeping as they backed into the bays on ground level. We were on the 4th floor, and even then we could hear garbage trucks entering to load and unload the big dumpsters. We could also SEE the dumpsters inside the bays full of hotel garbage.

The second irritant was the so-called "fitted" sheet on our king bed. The thing was totally too small, and even before we used the bed we could see that the top corners of it were barely pulled over the top of the mattress. The darn thing came loose numerous times during the night. With the prices this place charges, they could certainly afford to have properly fitting sheets! BTW, we did not have our room serviced during our stay - we prefer that most everywhere we go.

And there was one waste basket for the entire room. Not sure if that was an oversight on the part of housekeeping. We collected excess trash in plastic bags and disposed of it ourselves.

The free breakfasts each morning were great! The nice selections of foods, fruit, juices, coffee and tea were much appreciated. Also, it's nice that they keep coffee, hot water and lemonade available all day. And the location of the hotel can't be beaten if you want to visit many of the sights in the area. Just be aware there is A LOT of construction going on in every direction...noise and congestion are everywhere.

Room Tip: Ask for a room NOT on the 4th Avenue side of the hotel!

Common sense is needed at this place. They were pressure washing the entrance while everyone was trying to check in ---they should have scheduled during a less busy time --- perhaps just after lunch? When I did make it to the line, there were 7 people...and only one person behind the desk. Once I waited a few minutes, they did manage to call a second person. Check in was ok.

The room size was nice....but smelled a bit moldy. Not sure why.

While there were may lights in the room, they were poorly placed and they used bulbs that were low wattage. Hard to see without the blinds open.

One of the two phones in the room did not work. I used the one that DID to report about the second as well as to schedule a wake up call. The call never came....I guess it was a good thing that at the crack of dawn, someone was sanding something just outside so loudly it woke me. Perhaps that was it?

I also needed to do some work and asked for a late check out (and reported about the lack of a wake up call) The desk person seemed indifferent about the wake up call.
said she had to check if I could have the late check out. She finally came back and said 12:45. That must not have been communicated to the cleaning staff as twice my calls/work was interrupted with the maids knocking on the door. Anyway, with some minor changes and organization, it might be a decent place.

Room Tip: Don't choose second floor near the entrance. NOISE!
