You will be amazed at the atmosphere and decor in this restored three story building in the heart of downtown Nashville. This building, dating back to 1870, housed a hotel for the merchants that came into town on the Cumberland River. Over time, it served as a pharmacy, among other things. Famous people such as Dolly Parton and Loretta Lynn stayed in the hotel. Be sure to get a "look into the past" flyer. With that said, the first floor is charming, from the copper bars to the marble table tops, to the black and white painted wooden floors. The waiters are dressed appropriately with caps and suspenders. We stopped for lunch. I had the "chicken salad salad" which was spectacular. The chicken seemed to have been shredded. I also enjoyed the Johnny Cash chili which hit the spot on a cold, rainy day. My husband had the "portobello burger" which had no meat. Everything was excellent and creatively prepared and presented. Afterwards, we took a tour of the upper floors. I have never seen such an amazingly beautiful place that offered an outstanding menu. This will become a regular stop for us when we're in this city. Don't miss it. The next time we will have the dinner menu on the second floor with romantic decor and many fireplaces. Be careful of the ghost on the third floor.
