“Very welcoming, lovely place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2014

We stayed overnight in The Grand Suite - a lovely room with a small sitting room attached, and a wonderful big bathroom. Very nice house, lovely breakfast. A short drive (by taxi if you wish) into Nashville itself. Ellen is a very helpful and kind host. Thankyou very much.

Stayed here for a night on a road trip around America. Ellen was very friendly and welcoming and helped us plan our night in Nashville which was a 5 min taxi ride away. The room was very clean and comfy and a nice breakfast the next morning but my only issue with breakfast is there wasn't any choice. Would stay again if in the area.

My wife and I enjoyed 3 nights at The Big Bungalow and we concur with all of the positive comments from the review by "Married in Nashville" below (since we enjoyed their company at the same time as our stay.) We have stayed at many B&Bs over the years and The Big Bungalow is in my top 3 experiences. Ellen was a wonderful host and even worked her magic to get us a reservation at a top restaurant on short notice. I would also say that after staying downtown on a previous visit to Nashville I particularly liked the location - very close to the up-and-coming 5 Points area in East Nashville.

We just got back from our honeymoon and wedding in Nashville. We stayed with Ellen for 2 weeks, including on and before our wedding day. We originally chose to stay at The Big Bungalow rather than a hotel because we wanted to stay with the locals and find out more about Nashville and the way of life and Ellen didn't disappoint.

Ellen's home is comfortable, clean, cosy, full of her amazing family's artwork and sculptures. So talented! Breakfast every morning was delicious made by either Ellen or her delightful housekeeper Chrissy. We stayed in the Cosy Room for the first part of our stay, very sweet, comfy and cosy. Then for the 2nd part of our stay we upgraded to the Grand Suite...it is certainly grand and luxurious, huge room, huge bathroom, sweet living room and walk in wardrobe.

Ellen is extremely knowledgeable with the local attractions, shows, best restaurants etc and can give you tips on when and where to go and even help make reservations. We were treat like royalty.

On our wedding day Ellen and Chrissy couldn't have been more helpful, we had hair, makeup and photographers in their B&B taking photos and getting us ready for our wedding. They put on some relaxing music in our room and let me get ready in the Valentine Suite which was empty at the time, separate to my husband to be, which was bigger than the Cozy Room.

There is secure off street parking available to all guests too and downtown is a 3 min drive away. So taxi or rental car is perfect to get to most attractions.

We experienced all of the rooms The Big Bungalow has to offer, they are all 5 stars, much better we think than a chain hotel.

The guest service we experienced, was personal, caring and friendly. Ellen wanted us to enjoy our time in Nashville to the max and we will definitely be back!!!

Thank you for everything Ellen.

Ellen, our B&B Innkeeper, was welcoming and genuinely interested in our comfort. She provided various avenues to us regarding entertainment and food. Her greatest attribute was she cared and provided a complete and delicious breakfast to my Sister, Jo and I, on both mornings of our two day stay. Thanks, Ellen.

Room Tip: We had reserved the grand suite -- spa bathtub, shower, etc. Extra sitting room. Very restful.

A fantastic place to stay in Nashville.

From the moment we arrived, Ellen was fantastic. Having never been to Nashville before, she gave us some great suggestions for dinner and entertainment for the duration of our stay. Lots of local hints and tips which helped us to make the most of our short time in Nashville.

The room (we were in the Cozy room) was gorgeous. Lots of space (huge cupboard!), really comfy bed, and great bathroom. The breakfast Ellen provided was brilliant, and really set us up for the day. Also, she has off road, secure parking, which was really useful for us.

Location wise, the bungalow is a 30 min walk into the centre of Nashville. Really easy and a nice walk, giving you a great view of the city as you walk in over the bridge. Otherwise, it's a 5 min taxi ride away, and Ellen was great at providing local taxi numbers.

It was really nice staying in a local neighbourhood, rather than a soulless hotel, and it really made our stay in Nashville even better.

Thank you Ellen!!

My fiancé and I came to town for a birthday weekend for a couple of friends. We loved this place. The food was excellent, Ellen had great recommendations for dinner and the breakfasts were fantastic. Our room was very clean and had plenty of room to move around. Each room has it's own shower and restrooms, so you won't be using a shared facility which we have seen in our travels. If you do stay here I would recommend downloading the Uber cab app instead of taking a taxi. The fares are about half the price, not that you are going to be more than a $10 cab ride from anywhere. The neighborhood, I've read, is "up and coming" which us usually code for the hood. I would say that this is wrong. At no point did I feel unsafe, or like "we shouldn't be here". Overall it was a great place to stay I would recommend it to my friends.
