“Great food - be prepared to wait!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

If you do not mind waiting over an hour to eat then stop by. The food is very good. This place is definately a tourist trap. Breakfast was great in all respects but hardly worth an hour and 45 minnute wait. Kind of hard to screw up breakfast when you are that hungry. They do it right though. There are little shops all around the property to sell you other stuff (arts, crafts, touist gifts, etc...) while you are building your appetite and calming your children as they lose their patience wondering why you are so crazy to wait this long for some bisquits and eggs! Well been there, done that but did not buy the t-shirt. I can cross this off the bucket list now....

“Great southern food!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013 via mobile

Nice place to enjoy a meal with a family. The food was great. Awsome biscuits, nice pulled pork, fried catfish and creamed corn. Get ready to wait, this place is popular so wait times are long.

“It's All About the Biscuits and Fried Chicken”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Husband and I just enjoyed a great late-in-the-day Easter lunch at the Loveless. The biscuits and fried chicken MORE than exceeded the hype. Absolute best restaurant fried chicken I've eaten. If you like your chicken moist (as I do) , order the 1/4 chicken dark meat platter. Husband ordered white meat, and it was a little drier, as he prefers. Being somewhat health conscious, I usually discard the skin, but not this time. The crispy coating was salty and irresistibly delicious.
Concerning the biscuits.....a complimentary plate of six are brought to your table, along with peach, strawberry, and blackberry jams. We also requested honey and sorghum, which was graciously provided. These are not crusty-topped baking powder biscuits or oily Pillsbury Grands-style biscuits. These are soft and tender morsels which serve as the perfect vehicles for butter and jam.
I especially enjoyed the chunky home style peach jam, and the golden sorghum (better than dark molasses) . Walk through the narrow hallway separating the two dining areas to look through a large viewing window, through which you can watch the biscuits actually being rolled out and cut. (Kids were especially enjoying this).
My husband the corn connoisseur said the creamed corn was the best he's ever had, buttery and well-seasoned, not runny. My caramel sweet potatoes and turnip greens were ok, just not as spectacular as the chicken and biscuits.
The pies looked great, but no room left to sample them. (Our waitress noted that many people get them to go, which is a great option) .
If KFC's chicken and biscuits are your thing, you owe it to yourself to experience the real deal at the Loveless Cafe.

“Maybe lunch is better than breakfast?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

With much anticipation, because of numerous word-of-mouth mentions, we ventured all the way out to the Loveless Cafe for a late morning breakfast. The announced wait time on a Sunday was 75 minutes. That didn't seem to deter anyone from staying and given its reputation, we did as well. The good news was that the actual wait time was "just" 30 minutes. We were greeted promptly by our server who took and delivered our drinks order very efficiently. Good start.

Then she delivered the famous Loveless bisquits, hot from the oven, with three different jams and honey. They were tasty indeed, but probably not the best biscuits I've every had. Above average for sure.

One order of medium fried eggs was perfect, with crisp bacon and a side of cheesy hash browns, served lukewarm. I ordered the Southern omelet with sausage, which unfortunately was a disappointment. It was overcooked, and not particularly tasty. I elected not to send the dish back but it was less than what I had hoped for.

I left the Loveless wondering if I would have been better off ordering lunch instead of breakfast, because the choices looked awesome. I guess that I will have to return sometime to see if that's the case.

“Them biscuits are gooood!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Had breakfast at this local landmark for the first time on 3/28/13. It was awesome. Biscuits melt in your mouth and are about an inch high of pure delight. Homemade preserves to go with and some country fried steak and gravy and hash brown potatoes. Don't miss this one but be prepared to wait for a little bit but you can visit the little shops on the grounds..Our next plan is lunch for the fried chicken.
