“Nice Italian Restaurant in Nashville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

I tried Amerigo late one night after flying into nashville on business. There wasn't a wait to sit down and the restaurant was pretty much empty. Our server was really nice and walked us through the menu. The bread they brought out was pretty good and my ceasar salad was tasty. I ordered the lasagna and I should have paid closer attention to the meat that they use in the lasagna as it is a spicy sausage which I wasn't really fond of. Other than that, the food was pretty good and the decor was nice. I would try again but would probably not go with the lasagna.

“Not your average Italian Restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

While visiting "Music City" we had a lovely dinner at Amerigo's on West End. Reservations are a must even during the week, if one wants an early meal as happy hour goes from 4:30-6:30 PM and everyone knows it! The restaurant's decor: the dark burgundy red walls, low ambient lighting, small booths, close tables and low ceilings make the atmosphere one of a real european experience. While the kitchen is in the main restaurant and sounds emanate into the dining room, one really does not hear too much "kitchen clatter' rather a "white noise of" food prep and humming of professionals doing their thing.

We ordered veal piccata, the evening's special of shrimp and grits and sword fish special. The shrimp and grits were cooked just right keeping the shrimp soft and flavorful ; the grits had cheese added to give a more complementary vibe to the shrimp rather than the usual butter. The veal was a bit on the too thin side for my tastes, since they were more "crispy" than I would have preferred and one really didn't taste the "veal" flavor. This was served over a bed of angel hair pasta which had the pan juices soaking into it. The sword fish ordered by 2 others in the party was cooked to firm, not dry and served with potatoes and seasonal veggies. The complimentary "bread" was an herbed focaccia which was flavorful not over powering...we asked for a second helping!

The hit of the night, however, were the drinks. The Italian Cab, Manhattan and white Pinot were superb. In fact, the wine and drink menus were well chosen to match with the restaurants entrees and apps. Our resident drink specialist said that his Manhattan was probably one the top 5 he has ever had...high praise.

Our waitress for the evening only made the evening's experience that much more memorable...efficient, professional, nonintrusive and very personable she was from Texas transplanted in Nashville! Our tab for veal and swordfish, glass of wine and Manhattan came to $79.68 with tax. More than the average tab in a nice restaurant...but, well worth it for Amerigo.

I enjoyed the ambiance a lot. The food was tasteful and the service was awesome. It didnt seem like a traditional Italian menu, but everything was very good. The dessert menu.......is GOOOOD!

Great food if you like Italian. Great Service. Kid friendly. Food was very enjoyable. Did not like the bread pudding. Not like grandma's.

“Nice atmosphere; good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

Near Vanderbuilt area. Place was crowded --- looked like mostly locals. Food was good but we are picky re Italian food (New York, New Jersey, San Francisco are much better). For being in Nashville --- this is good Italian.
