Since we are local, I'm a little hesitant to advertise how really good this place is. It is conveniently located for out of towners and reservations are becoming hard to get. The food is world class, beautifully presented, and delicious. This was our second special occasion visit. I had the venison and my companion had a filet that he said was the best he has ever eaten. There are other upscale restaurants in Nashville that have outstanding food but some of them appear to take themselves too seriously with wait staff that seem pretentious and sometimes condescending. That is not the case with Etch. We find the staff there to be courteous, professional, and friendly without overdoing it. The restaurant was crowded with several large parties from a convention nearby. We ordered a glass of wine while we waited for our order, enjoyed the ambiance and didn't notice the time. When our order was delivered our waiter apologized for the delay and explained that a party of 25 had arrived shortly before us and the kitchen was backed up a bit. We said it wasn't a problem we were savoring our wine. I wasn't watching the clock but it couldn't have been more than 20-25 minutes, not an uncommon wait in a nice restaurant. In a couple of minutes, the maître d’ came over and also expressed his regrets for the timing as well. We repeated that we didn't consider it a problem. Then when we ordered dessert, the waiter said it was on them because of the delay. So our lovely meals were topped off with phenomenal desserts at no cost to us. We've had other restaurants offer a complimentary dessert in response to a customer complaint but never when they apparently failed to meet their own timeliness standard. What a great experience!
