“In Construction Zone”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

Stayed at this hotel two weeks ago. They are in the middle of construction. The room was not too bad. The hotel employees were very friendly. Just did not like being in the middle of a construction zone. They will probably be done in about three months.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not facing the Union Street.

Indeed. We enjoyed having you stay with us and by years end this will be a great property to stay at. We have been working real hard and I'm truly thankful for the efforts of our staff. I'll pass on your comments and please do come again.

Our recent stay at the Best Western in downtown Nashville left a little to be desired. Mostly this is because they are in the process of a major renovation. Naturally, no one let's you know this prior to booking. Here are some positives and negatives of our stay:
Positives - the staff was excellent. Great personalities, friendly, and helpful. A special shout-out to "Rohan". Way to be you, brother.
The room interiors are nice and well decorated. Not huge, but average.
The location is average. Not far from where you want to be, and in close proximity to the rental bicycles.
Negatives - mostly have to do with the renovation - I hope. There was the obvious construction noise early in the morning. The plumbing made a ton of noise - for a while I thought a kitten was stuck in our bathroom. The lobby had water coming through the ceiling. Again, I'm sure this will all be remedied soon, but something to consider if you're looking at staying here in the near future.
As far as amenities, this hotel is best used as simply a place to sleep. They had fresh free coffee in the lobby each morning, but the "business center" and fitness area don't offer much. Overall, I'd stay here again after the construction because it's cheap, and we'd get to screw with Rohan more.

Room Tip: During the construction, get a room at the Sheraton down the street.

Thank you for responding and I appreciate your nice comments regarding the staff. Renovating a property is always a very difficult process but we know that we are going in the right direction. The amenities that may not mean as much now will be improved and we expect that even more guests will want to stay with us. We have a great location and a wonderful staff and I hope you will return to see our final product. Thanks again for your response!

This hotel needs an overall upgrade, it is showing age. When booking, we were not told that keeping car there was an extra fee ($16+). Front office just gave a "sorry about that" answer. The breakfast food is the typical sugary, high fat, high carbo meals. The only thing we could grab was an apple; we ate outside of hotel for 3 day stay. Room was clean but extremely loud fan in bathroom when light was turned on, prevented a decent conversation in room. The most positive of the hotel is that it is centrally city based and within walking distance to downtown attractions.

Yes, I agree that the property is showing age as it was built in 1960 and the reason that when you were here we are renovating and necessary that we do so. When completed the property will be completely modernized inside and out and will be a focal point of our new revitalized downtown (note will will also be including a Bistro that will service hot food and highend beer brands). As to the parking fee, we have have it since 2012 and is advertised with all major sites. I do apologize if this was somehow missed by you. Our breakfast is typical of the South although we do understand they will be some people who will want a more low fat menu. I do want to apologize again to you that you were not happy with your stay and we hope in the future you will give us another try.

Upon seeing the room, I had an overwhelming feeling to leave and find another hotel to stay at; it reminded me of a place where seedy people would stay and do drugs (a la a "Thunderbird Motel" or something of the like) and the general feeling was unsafe. I felt mislead by the online profile of the hotel, the angel of the pictures made it appear modern and not broken down. Water pressure is horrendous and it takes 10 or so minutes to get hot water.

Thank you for your review and your comments are duly noted. I do understand that people will have "feelings" and we are renovating to change any negative feedback regarding appearance but feelings are not based on fact or actual experience. When the property is completed people will come and will be able to enjoy the actual experience they would expect from our hotel. We have employees here who work hard to ensure guests satisfaction is achieved during a difficult renovation process. We are also thankful to our repeat guest s who have been with us on this journey since day one and we appreciate their continued support. We have made note of them and will be doing something very special for them later this year. Its unfortunate you feel this way but maybe in time you will have a change of heart.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. It's under renovation, so doesn't look pretty from the exterior. I was out most of the day so can't comment on day time noise, but there wasn't any before 9am.
My room was large, clean and comfortable. A fridge meant I could keep milk cold for coffee (machine provided). Free wi-fi in the room was fast and very welcome, and breakfast offered a reasonable choice to keep me going until lunch.
The extractor fan in the bathroom was rather loud, but that's not a problem.
The only thing I felt it lacked was net curtains. The rooms have large picture windows which face onto an exterior walkway. Blackout blinds are great for night time, but I would have liked nets (or similar) to keep some privacy during the day without blacking the room out.
The staff are all delightful and happy to help.
The location is very good - easily reached by bus from the airport (saving on the taxi fare) and within 10 minutes walk of the Broadway and Printers Alley.
Is it the most stylish hotel in Nashville? No. But it's certainly an excellent hotel for the price.

After staying previous years at Best Western Music Row, we decided to opt for Best Western Downtown Convention Centre to be closer to Downtown. I contacted them 2 weeks prior to our trip with a couple of requests if possible. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly, helped in with luggage, and both our requests were met. Room was great, beds really comfy, plenty hot water, toiletries, towels, everything was perfect. The Hotel was undergoing renovation, and yes some scaffolding was in place, and during the day this work was being carried out, but no way did it interfere or become a nuisance, and the workmen kept dirsruption to a minimum. We were in room 525 top floor, and there is a balcony which runs all around, so you can walk around this, enjoying views. Now they couldn't do this at the Sheraton next door. Breakfast is on level 2 and the staff are brilliant. Must mention Tye who was a ray of sunshine every morning.Plenty of choice for breakfast. Rooms cleaned daily, though some days we didnt need this, but fresh towels were left at the door. All the staff were very helpful. Handy for buses and Downtown, which takes less than 10 mins.Sure it will be great when all renovations are done, but we joked about this as we had lovely yellow buntings all around. Thankyou to all the staff for the great welcome and hospitality. We hope to stay with you again.Mr & Mrs Needham England. ps extractor in bathroom is bit noisy, but we got used to that.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking courtyard we asked for as we thought this might be quieter, and this is what we go...

overpriced, awful conditions. The hotel was under construction and should have been closed, but they still charged full price. ALL STAFF was amazing, they need to all go work for a better hotel. I go to NAshville annually and will never stay here again
