Well my wife and I were fortunate enough to See the Predators and Redwings on 12/29/13 - We took a tour of Downtown Nashville earlier in the day mainly to see the Sites and get a better Radar fix on where Bridgestone was located. With pre-preperations going on for the Big New Year extravaganza the town was over populated with visitors and locals. Half the streets were closed down and it was just a big party fest.
We ate dinner and headed to the arena shortly after - we arrived about 30 minutes before game time - when through the standard security check in policy and worked our way to our seats - The first appearance of the arena as you walk through the main doors is extremely nice. It is wide open - nice decor - clean with highly visible signs and markers showing the way to seats and or favorite beer or food establishments.
We found ourselves just a few feet away from entering the ICE area of the arena and if you ever had the chance to see your home town team in another venue it is spectacular especially being in a foreign state. We entered the ice area blazing our Redwings gear like we were team mascots... Seeing as how beautiful the arena was on the outside and main pavilion we assumed we would be walking into a huge opening of Nashville Fans.... Ah but... as we entered we noticed the dreadful dread of all Hockey Fans around the globe - The seats - the seating arraignments - we were dumbfounded - Bridgestone Arena is the sister of Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The seating is absolutely unacceptable -
In comparison Joe Louis Arena is approx 650K Square Feet and they STUFF 21,002 Fans in the seats - Bridgestone is approx 750K Square Feet and they Stuff 17,300 Fans in the seats - and When I mean STUFF I mean STUFF - If you are 6' or better i can guarantee you will have a hard time sitting - Unless of course the Person in front of you doesnt mind share their space with your Knee Cap!
Its unfortunate but it appears the owners all over any sporting event our more concerned about Quantity than Quality when it comes to seating
Overall we enjoyed the Arena very much - Very Clean and great location
