“Nice room, but very noisy.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2014

We stayed at The Inn at Opryland for a weekend in February. It was a nice hotel for the most part, but it reminded me more of a motel that was closed-in and renovated. But I wasn't expecting the pool and hot tub to be in the center of the hotel, next to the dining area, completely open. So it's very humid in the building from the hot tub and pool and we were constantly smelling chlorine in our room. The room itself was very nice. Large Sleep Number bed, couch, smallish bathroom, but everything was very clean. The downside to the room is there are no windows, there is only a plastic screen that sees out in to the hotel, which we obviously wanted to keep closed because people constantly walk by. Finally it is very noisy. The pool is literally right outside of the rooms, so we would wake up to kids playing in the pool or the staff would just be talking and hanging out in the hall.I probably wouldn't stay there again, not ideal for a couples getaway.

The Opryland is a sight for sore eyes. Its beautiful, big, and actually kind of fun to stay at. If you want to get lost, you'll have no issues and it's easy to do frankly. The different sections of the hotel are unique and the attention to detail is sure amazing. How many hotels actually have waterfalls, a river, jungle type humidity, and stores/restaurants like a mall. I stayed for business for 4-days and enjoyed the hotel. My room was okay, nothing spectacular, but my outdoor patio was a blast to sit on every evening with the lights and other guests enjoying themselves. The conference accommodations seemed great and I did use the copy/shipping office with ease. My only complaint and it's a big one is the price of food within the hotel. I get fair market and I understand people need to make a buck, this is a business, but $12.00 for a Sushi roll that costs me $5-$8 at other places? $18.00 for a french dip? $48.00 for a steak that's not worth $28? I'm sorry, but don't gouge your guests just because they are staying with you and can't leave to eat. Shameful frankly!

Our sole purpose for visiting the Nashville area on this end of our Blue Ridge Parkway road trip was to see a Tuesday night show at The Grand Ole Opry. This hotel fit the bill perfectly. It has very convenient access on an off the major highway routes, it is conveniently located to the theater, resort and Mall, it is considerably less expensive than the big, fancy Opryland Resort and the free shuttle that runs between all of these venues allows you to take advantage of all the best stuff while sleeping at a reasonable price. We were able to lunch and dine at the more upscale Opryland Resort and attend the Grand Ole Opry show and return afterward to our room at The Inn via shuttle.

The room faced inward to the atrium/pool area and was nicely decorated and appointed. King bed was extremely comfortable, furnishings were nice, washroom was clean and the room was very quiet for sleeping.

Would highly recommend this hotel if you want to spend your money doing all of the good, fun stuff while spending your sleep time in a well-appointed, quiet yet considerably less expensive hotel.

The good part about this hotel in my experience was two things. I had very good customer service when issues arose, and the restaurant at the hotel was very good. Upon checking in I was given a room in the "motel" side of the hotel. The rooms facing the outside are loud, you are able to hear everything going on outside. Also, my room smelled of mold which didn't help the loudness. After going back to the front desk for an "inside" room, I was accommodated with a room that was quiet, and comfortable. The hotel does have a free shuttle to the mall, I utilized this and wasn't disappointed. There are also some other places to eat in the nearby area, but nothing fantastic.

The hotel has a free shuttle to the mall and to the Opryland Hotel. It is well within walking distance of some good restuarants and the Nashville Palace. I had no problems with my reservation and we were at the KCBS 28th Banquet. The Backstage Grill was great and the waiters/bartenders also subbed as musicians. Food and drinks there was 50% less cost than at the Opryland Hotel and just as good.

Room Tip: Hot water in 3023 is turn just barely on. All the way around will get you a VERY cold shower.

The 28th Annual Kansas City Barbeque Society Banquet was recently held in Nashville at The Inn at Opryland which is a Gaylord Hotel as is the nearby Opryland Hotel.

The hotel has an atrium just as the much larger Opryland Hotel does but the outer rooms are located on the outside and the hotel has only 3 floors. Our reservations were for an atrium room. However, as we went to our room, we noticed that our room was not an atrium room. When we went back to the front desk we showed the clerk our copy of the reservation and he took it to the manager who was apparently in an office behind the desk. He/she never appeared like the Great Wizard of Oz. As we were standing there I overheard another guest who had requested a king size bed and had even called earlier in the day to confirm that she would get a king sized bed and was assured that she would. She didn't get the king sized bed. Finally someone came out from behind the desk and I thought it was the manager who was to take care of our situation. It wasn't but the mysterious manager soon called and the new clerk took care of our room. I am not sure why the original clerk could not take care of our issue.

This time our room was what we were promised and was very nice. The Inn at Opryland has a free shuttle that takes guests to the Opryland Hotel and Opry Mills. There is also a shuttle that you can take downtown to the Wildhorse Saloon for a fee.

The Opry Backstage Grill is located here and is a gem with very friendly staff and pretty good food. We listened to live music there and wound up going there 3 times.

The review would have been better if it weren't for the beginning snafu. That coupled with the way that it was handled and the fact that others were having the same type of problems.
