Rather disappointed in our choice of this hotel. Mariott. Gaylord. Opryland. All indicators caused us to believe this was a good choice. Our room was ground floor, two double (not queen or king) beds. Both mattressess should have been retired years ago. Was difficult for two people to remain on the bed due to the crazy deformation of both mattresses. The street noise was disturbing all night. Perhaps interior rooms are better but ours was awful. Stayed for 2 nights. AC was old, loud, hot to cold. It is one of those typical external window/wall units that freezes those in the bed 5 feet away and does nothing for the rest of the room.
Personnel were very friendly and the place was full with a conference so it must be popular somehow. The pool was average. My kids like to work out when we stay at hotels but they (13 year olds) said the gym was a joke. Just a bunch of dumbells.... The pool was packed with kids and adults both evenings but was still nice. We stayed in May 2013. There are two hotels across the street that other friends stayed at for less $ and seemed to be of similar condition. Cracker Barrel iis directly across the street so breakfast at the hotel wouldl have been a waste of $. It is not awful, just disappointing. $380 for two nights without meals or a good nights rest is not fun. We actually look forward to hotel nights because usually we get to experience mattressess that are better than our own. Not at this place in this room....
The bathroom is tiny. A toilet just a few inches beside the door wall and the tub. This is a hotel with the single sink in the main room. Lots of counter top space and a few shelves for toiletries. Lots of drawers or shelves for clothes but no refrigerator or safe. I am not sure if i have been in a hotel without a fridge or safe in years.... Even the ice bucket is small. Couldnt hold ice and a sparkling apple juice bottle except for the ice on the bottom but not the sides.... very odd.
Didnt provide soap or shampoo the second night. Our famly of 4 went through the two litte soaps and tiny shampoo the first night. Had to rely on a spare that i normally pack. Sheets were not replaced and i didnt notice a sign telling me to put them on the floor if we wanted fresh ones... TV check out doesnt work but the desk clerk was very friendly and super fast. My point is why have the feature of TV check out listed on the invoice if it doesnt work?
Wont stay there again.
