“Best hotel value near Opryland”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2009

Holiday Inn & Express on McGavock Pike right across from Gaylord Opryland is the newest, most affordable hotel I've found near Opryland. Opened early Summer, 2009.

Judging from prior reviews on this property, most of the early customer service wrinkles have been ironed out. I found this new property to be extremely clean and comfortable. Perhaps the best Holiday Inn & Express I've ever stayed at. Very indicative of the large investment that Holiday Inn is making to upgrade their properties. Great decor, big flat panel TVs and refrigerators in the rooms.

Every staff member that I interacted with was courteous, sharp-looking in dark blue shirts and professional. The hotel, through a working relationship with the nearby Hampton Inn, has complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport, and the Gaylord Opryland. The Gaylord is also a healthy, but not unreasonable walk.

I was attending a conference at the Gaylord, and while the group was paying over $175/night, I was paying less than $100/night. For anyone attending a conference at the Gaylord and looking to save some travel budget, or just visiting Opryland, this is a great choice.

This hotel is located very close to the new grand ole opry house. There are many other old attractions around you here, if you like things from the 70's and early 80's you will like the attractions.
Check in was good, front desk very friendly. Gave us directions on the things we wanted to see and informed us of how long it would take to get to each place. Our teenage daughter missed the cookies that were made earlier in the night the nice gentleman at the desk made us some more, that was the best. It is the little things like that, that make a place and the people memorable. He did not have to make the cookies but was more than willing too do so.
The room was great very clean and comfortable, we had a great view out the front from our 5th floor room. We could see opryland from the window. There is a wax museum you can see from the front of the hotel, do not bother going there, it is terrible to put it nice. The pool is very pretty at this place but wow it was so cold.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The breakfast was great enough seating for everyone. Biscuites and gravy, bacon, eggs cin buns etc....
This hotel and it's staff are great. Check out was also smooth.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2009

My husband is on extended business in Tennessee and went to visit him. We picked this hotel to due to its proximity to Opry Mills. I thought the only drawback would be that they did not have a whirlpool with their indoor pool. We have stayed at numerous Holiday Inns over the past several years (including his business trips which sometimes run up to six months) and have never been treated with such rudeness as we were at this location. Granted, the hotel is brand new and looks great, but their staff except for one gentleman who was there when we checked out leaves much to be desired. Since we are Priority Club Platinum members, we normally receive an upgrade without even asking. When my husband checked in, Rodney the clerk, exhibited an snobbish attitude and assigned the room without even acknowledging our Platinum status. My husband then inquired about an upgrade and was rudely told no, none available. The room we were given was adequate however, the mouthwash in the bathroom was open (I'm assuming already used by previous guest) and there was no shampoo (forgot mine). We went out sightseeing & for dinner and when we returned to the hotel, I used the computer out of curiosity to discover that they had many rooms still available. My husband mentioned it to the desk staff (of course Rodney came running out) and were told no, we are booked. So why was there availablity on the website? We concluded that the help was probably new, inexperienced and incompetent. Next morning, got up and I usually enjoy a cup of coffee in the room only to discover no cups at all. We went down for breakfast. One person was on duty and when I spoke to him, he told me the person who was to assist him didn't show up for work. There were no eggs, the coffee urns and milk thermos' were empty and finally a maid was sent to help him who was very curt and rude to the guests. When we checked out there was a different gentleman (whose name I unfortunately did not get) who was appalled by our comments when he asked how our stay was.
