“Almost excellent ...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

I was pleasantly surprised upon walking into the Hutton for my five-night stay during SEC basketball tournament week. The hotel doesn't look like anything special from the outside and the somewhat confusing path from parking to the lobby had given me pause but once I went in, things started looking up. Cool vibe throughout the property. The rooms are on the smaller side but very trendy ... reminds me of a W hotel. The shower is superb and Molton Brown bath products were a huge bonus! On-site dining and room service both very good and fairly priced. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Be sure to ask for a room on the side of the hotel closer to Vanderbilt as the construction on the opposite side is very loud and begins early. All in all, a nice experience and would definitely consider when returning to Nashville.

We arrived to the hotel late at night. The check in is very neat, you seat at the desk with the staff member instead of standing in front of the counter which sends a very nice message.
The rooms are small, but they have an treadmill which is unusual and it is a good thought by all means. The only problem is that it block access to the window which is small as it is.

The hotel is big on the energy saving project, and you have to put your key into a slot at the door for the lights to go on. The problem is they go on right on top of the bed. So if your companion is navigating his way to the bathroom at night, the light goes on right on top of the bed.

The airconditioning is in a serious need of overhaul. It is very loud, produces some foul smell at night reminding of a burning rubber, and it almost never stops. It makes sleeping very hard, to say the least.

The shower, however, is really neat. The shower head and the water pressure are excellent. It is probably the best shower I have ever had. The funky part of the shower layout is that it has a glass wall adjacent to the room. If you have a romantic holiday for two, it can probably invigorate your old sense of excitement in your partner. If you travel with your child, it becomes a bit disconcerting because while the glass is matted, you still can see a shape of another person showering right in front of you.

You absolutely must bring with you your own blow dryer because the one in the bathroom is dated back to the Civil War times and it has a very short cord, so you must stand next to the electric outlet in order to use it.

The restaurant and its staff were the highlight of the stay. While most of the food is not my type, it is well made, nicely presented, and the people serving it are highly trained professionals, nice, and they have every intent to make your experience just great. Every singly person in the restaurant knows particulars of the clients, cares for food allergies as it were there own, and strives to please.

The concierge on our first night was a tad self impressed and really could not care much about us. The waitress Traci, on another hand, could be the best concierge of the entire city of Nashville. She recommended the Merchants restaurant and for that we are extremely grateful. See my review of that place.

Checking out was uneventful, and the lady to whom we mentioned about the air conditioning issues could not care less.

I forgot to mention that there is construction project going on right next to the hotel, so the hammering starts at 7:17 a.m. and it becomes very loud and uncomfortable. But in all fairness there is nothing the hotel can do about it.

One more thing. Our bathroom was malfunctioning late at night, and we received assistance immediately. This is a major plus to the management of the hotel.

I stayed at the Hutton Hotel during SEC Champ Week in mid-March. The check-in process was very fast, and the staff extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and modern. The hotel is also participating in a Green program, the lights in your room are activated with your room key when you enter. Nice touch!
The hotel itself has a trend, boutique vibe to it, and definitely try 1808 Grille for breakfast. It was outstanding.
The hotel itself is located very close to Vanderbilt and a short cab ride or 15 minute walk to downtown, which isn't bad if it's a nice day.

Definitely recommend the Hutton for your next Nashville stay.

great hotel- super clean and modern. The staff was outstanding! There is only one thing to consider when using this hotel- the distance to downtown. You could walk downtown- but it is about 2 miles - so if you are shopping or going out to the bars- there is about no way you are walking. Do not kid yourself into to thinking that the hotel shuttle is the perfect solution. It was available to us about half of the time that we needed it and it only seats 4 people. We ended up in cabs which starts to add up fast. I did hear that by the summer they will be adding another- they really need to! Otherwise this was one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.

I stayed at The Hutton Hotel with my teen daughter and we both loved it! The location is very central close to Vanderbilt University and a short shuttle ride to any place you want to go! The service is incredible. We had a quick trip(one night in Nashville.) The hotel is very hip and modern. The rooms were very clean and well appointed, very very nice. The room service food was literally out of this world! I was shocked at the presentation and taste, all excellent!
We went to The Ryman Auditorium, we had to see the Grand Ole Opry and the concierge arranged it all. He said we would need to get there a bit early and arranged a shuttle for us. He was spot on! There was a very long line and we arrived with perfect timing, the doors to the venue just opened, the line was moving and we got right in. Some people had waited over and hour. So thankful the concierge could recommend when to arrive and we didn't have to wait!
I highly recommend The Hutton. It is a great value and a great place to stay!

I travel to Nashville often and almost always stay at the Hutton, I have stayed at other properties but I love the vibe and feel of the Hutton. The staff as always is very attentive friendly and I am always greeted by every staff member around the hotel and it never feels fake. Rooms are great and clean for the most part. This is my one issue, they need to clean the walls in the bathrooms better, multiple times I have noticed dirty walls. On this trip even the curtains seemed in desperate need of the cleaning. Everything else was clean and comfortable. Gym is fairly nicely equipped and I always enjoy the restaurant when not dining out elsewhere in Nashville.

Hutton is 1 mile from downtown. It is an easy walk and hotel does provide transport on a first come first served basis. The staff are by far, the best we have experienced in a long time. The restaurant is also worth a visit - beautiful meal in lovely surrounding. Room service was also great. The room was very modern and clean. My only negative comment was the actual size of the room, it was a little small. Would stay here again though.
